Phoebus Delivorias: I'd want to be Leonard Cohen"

Post by Dem » Sat Apr 02, 2005 6:28 pm

Phoebus Delivorias is considered as one of the best singer/songwriters of the new generation in Greece.
(He writes his songs, lyrics and music, and he sings them with his guitar)

There is a short interview today in the major Greek newspaper "Eleftherotypia" were among other things the journalist asks him:

-If you weren't Phoebus Delivorias, which artist would you want to be?

and he replies:

- "Leonard Cohen, because his songs - as all his beauty- exist only in quietness "

What a great observation about Leonard - I'd never thought of it that way before! 8)

Cheers :)

Phoebus Delivorias
We have a saying in Hungarian "Aki a viragot szereti, rossz ember nem lehet" roughly translated as : a person who loves flowers, can't be a bad person. Hence I believe Phoebus Delivorias must be equally great for loving our Leonard Cohen.

What a beautiful quote, I wish I had it last night at the Panel Discussion at the Blue Met.

And he really is a good young singer/songwriter.

Also like Cohen giving much importance to his lyrics.

BTW, what was that "Panel Discussion at the Blue Met" about Eva?

The Blue Metropolis is an International Literary Festival in its 7th. year here in Montreal. This year some of the great writers featured and in attendance were David Suzuki, Carlos Fuentes, Antonio Skarmeta, Russell Banks.
One of the highlights was this panel discussion to nominate Leonard Cohen for the Nobel Prize. See post under that heading.

"Leonard Cohen, because his songs - as all his beauty- exist only in quietness "
As has already been said, beautiful and appropriate quote.
