I have received this shocking and sad email from Keiko Tanahashi:
It's with great sadness that I'm writing you this letter to let you know that Yoshio passed away of cancer on July 25.

At the beginning of July Yoshio was diagnosed with cancer and due to the severity of his disease he passed away so quickly.

He was looking forward to going to Amsterdam very much this month. It is so unfortunate that He is not able to attend.

We played the music of Leonard Cohen at his funeral.

He was so glad to meet all of you and I know he would have liked to say goodbye.

It would be much appreciated if you could tell anyone Yoshio knew about his passing and to express our gratitude to them. Thank you so much for everything and farewell.

Yoshio and Keiko in New York (at the 2004 Event)

Yoshio and Keiko participated in most of our Events since Hydra 2002, and joined us also for some of the Hydra meetups. They were our most active Japanese members. Always friendly and smiling, and true lovers of Leonard's music. Our deepest sympathies go out to you Yoshio and your family.

Rest in Peace, Yoshio.
Love

This news is so very sad. Yoshio had such a beaming, lovely spirit, and it always felt that I had a special connection with him and Keiko. I was always so happy to see Yoshio and Keiko together at one gathering after another. I never would or could have imagined that he would die so young. My heart is with Keiko, as she now goes on without him. They were such a very special couple. So often I wished for greater understanding of language between us.

May you rest in peace, Yoshio. Your time on earth was too short.

Much love,
Elizabeth

Hi,

I just had a short look in the Forum before leaving for Amsterdam and saw this very sad message.

To Keiko: we are really close to you in this sad moment and we feel very sorry for the fast passing away of Yoshio.

It is many years we have met you and him at the LC events around the world , in New York we were even in the same group walking in the NY Streets for the treasure hunting game and we had fun and good memories with you both.

We keep him in in our mind , we were looking forward to meet him in Amsterdam, now we are just shocked.

Dear Keiko, our consolence to you and your family ....and R.I.P. Yoshio

Love from Italy
