I posted this in the Birthday thread, but let's copy it here, too:
Dear Jarkko,

It is so very kind of our friends to remember my birthday.
Please thank them for their warm good wishes and their encouragement.
I cannot put into words how much it means to me.

Love and Blessings,

Ah, how sweet! I'm glad that we can warm Leonard's heart as much as he warms ours.

Leonard's words are not significently differnt than those written by others, so simple, but, in a subtle way, they are so very touching to me at the same time.... I guess I am reading his persona into these comments !!! Unexpected nourishment!

Just back from Strasbourg and Marseille I read Mr. Cohen's message and I am in tears. Thank you very much for this message, Leonard Cohen, and for passing it on to us, Jarkko.

I also had tears in my eyes when I read this.

We all know, how deliberate LC is when choosing his words. So every word in his thank you note struck me like a thunderbolt.

I was moved by his paying tribute to our wonderful Jarkko with his inclusiveness, when he wrote to Jarkko and wrote, "our" friends. How so very gracious of him to recognize Jarkko like that and include him as an equal which looks so casual but is in fact a deliberate "our" friends.

Also, to end his thank you note with a personal "stamp", LC could have chosen from among several images he has designed and with which we are all familiar. What he deliberately chose was the image best symbolizing the Blessings of the Kohanim, the four Blessings he used to invoke in his own way at the end of concerts early in the 2009-2009 tour.

LC blessed all of us. And I was moved to tears by this.

How very thoughtful and beautiful from Leonard. Especially, to read it after that emotional Marseille concert...

Forever gracious.
Forever a gentle/man.
Forever true.

Yes ~ "our" speaks volumes.

Thank you, Leonard and Jarkko, for all that you are... and for each of you being the quintessential you.

Love,
Lizzy
