Dear Caz,
Just a big thank you for a great article! Pico Iyer is one of my favorite LC reviewers (along with Sylvie Simmons). I'm looking forward to the second installment. I especially appreciated his remarks about the concerns that Leonard has over literary matters as that has been one of observations as well. He does appreciate the great Western canon!

caz,
What a wonderful article you have posted. There are just too many things to respond to, but the overall feeling I got is that Pico Iyer is as infatuated with LC and his work as we are, how fantastic and right!

Hi caz,

This is just the best interview/article you have given us :D I absolutely love the manner of its writing. As MaryB says there are so many things in it which are quotable but I just loved this:

I couldn't have said it better--no really--I couldn't have said it better. Thanks for sharing this wonderful insightful, thoughtful analysis of just what it is that Leonard brings. Funny how we never get tired of trying to express or hearing expressed, this love we have for Leonard Cohen.

Just read this and was going to post it here and then thought of my tendency to blurt stuff out here before doing any kind of looking around.

Pico Iyer says, ' ...it's more about hauntedness and these people who occupy places in our head and we feel closer to than our own friends and family even though we've never met them. Who are they and why are they there and why do I associate myself with him so strongly after 20 years?'

Why do you associate yourself so strongly with him after 20 years?
