Happy Birthday time..he's only 69

Post by Andrew McGeever » Sat Sep 20, 2003 3:01 am

O.K., so it's September 20th, but tomorrow the man in the Star Trek uniform (I loved that "poem"!) will celebrate his 69th birthday. Let's face it; he's done pretty well out of the whole business of survival and beyond.
The fact that Leonard Cohen is engaged in poetry and song-writing comes as a benefit to the world.
Leonard, may you have a happy birthday, shared by all who are closest to you; your family, friends and management.
I can only speak for myself when I say that you have touched my life, and I'm the better for it. Others will, no doubt, reply in their own way.
And another thing: this message board has grown out of all proportion. I joined last July, 2002, and was the fifty-somethingth member. Now there are nearly 600 on board. It's good to know there are so many "beautiful losers" who appreciate the works of such a remarkable man...Mr.Leonard Cohen.
Happy Birthday, old man!!
Bless you,
Andrew & family.

Replying to my own post, Kadir Erkan's birthday card sums it up: it's on the main page. Yes, we love you!

Happy Birthday!
May you live another 69 years (in good tradition of Buddhist monks!)...
How old was that other Jewish prophet, Moses? 120? You can do better!

Happy birthday Leonard. Your work has been a part of my life for ever and I hope you enjoy good health and happiness for a long long time yet. I am pleased I occupied the planet the same time you did so I had a chance to see you perform live. I wish you everything you wish yourself and more.

Have a great Birthday Leonard! It goes without saying that I am another adoring admirer and have been for more than 20 years. But, damn, LC, isn't it about time you got over your shyness and joined us in NYC? If you'd rather avoid the limelight, you can always hide beside me!
