What a miserable bunch of pessimists you lot are.
All that talk of umbrellas, rain and muddy fields. So little faith. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Here is the latest weather forecast for next weekend.....
...and didn't I tell you that the the sun would shine for the Dublin concerts.

58 Fahrenhights ? Holy Cow, that is 58 - 32 = 26 * 5 = 130 / 9 that's 14,444444 in Celcius. Last time we had it that cold here was on my birthday in January. We are all gonna get killed open air without proper clothing. I surely will bring my hat and my winter boots, too. On the positive side, Leonard will be clever enough to add "Winter Lady" to the setlist and that's going to be another unique experience in Dublin.

Then summer has your golden hair and autumn has your ghost - and we are at a juicy fest where Damellon is the host.

What !
Swap a front row seat at a Steve Earle acoustic concert in the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall for sitting in a field in Dublin with a bunch of culchies!!
You've got to be joking.

Also I've just received my invitation (Friday 13th.) for one of the many regional previews of Bob Dylan's Drawn Blank Series in Chester. The big show opens on the day after on 14th. in London's Halycon Galleries.
So as Margaret leaves Chester to fly business class on Ryanair to Dublin I will be vacating the buzzing European Capital Of Culture for a few hours to spend some time in her home city to gaze at, and soak in, the brilliance of Bob Dylan (blessed be his name) the aclaimed American painter.

Shame there wont be a little bit of rain though, I like my women in wellies :)

If I weren't a monk I would run with that visualization!.. see where it would take me... but of course I won't, I'll leave it (the extended visualization) to you Tiggs..

maybe a slight change to Len's lines:
................
If you want another kind of love
I'll wear wellies for you

... sort of works!

MFL wrote:You may meet a real Galway Girl
In this song as you know Steve Earle is singing about an Irish girl who broke his heart.

When I woke up I was all alone
With a broken heart and a ticket home
And I ask you now, tell me what would you do
If her hair was black and her eyes were blue
I’ve traveled around I’ve been all over this world
Boys I ain’t never seen nothin’ like a galway girl

This is not an uncommon occurence it's a thing that Irish girls are famous for.
A quick look at the history of Irish traditional music will bear this fact out. Almost every song in the book tells the tale of some flirty young colleen breaking the heart of an innocent young man.
The evidence can also be found in most Liverpool pubs where you will find somewhere in a dark corner some sad old unmarried broken-hearted Irishman who left his village years ago because of some shameful hussey.
This behaviour may or may not be the origin of the Liverpool saying 'Irish girls is poison'
However on the plus side, without these girls I would never have had Christy Moore break my heart every time I hear him sing Nancy Spain
You naughty naughty girls.

Of all the stars that ever shone
Not one does twinkle like your pale blue eyes
Like golden corn at harvest time your hair
Sailing in my boat the wind
Gently blows and fills my sail
Your sweet-scented breath is everywhere

Daylight peeping through the curtain
Of the passing night time is your smile
And the sun in the sky is like your laugh
Come back to me my Nancy
Linger for just a little while
Since you left these shores I've known no peace
Nor joy

Chorus:
No matter where I wander I'm still haunted
by your name
The portrait of your beauty stays the same
Standing by the ocean wondering where you've
gone, if you'll return again
Where is the ring I gave to Nancy Spain

On the day in Spring when snow starts to melt
And streams to flow
With the birds I'll sing this song
Then in the while I'll wander
Down by bluebell stream where wild flowers grow
And I'll hope that lovely Nancy will return

Ah Ken
Come to sunny Dublin.
Renew your acquaintance with some naughty girls.
Hear my resident troubadour sing 'Nancy' and cry into your Guinness.
What more could you ask of a weekend?
Sure, if Blessed Bob's Art is anything like his gigs, it'll tour forever.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.

Ken,

I won't be flying out to Dublin til Saturday afternoon... Any chance of me gatecrashing the Friday preview :?: I'll be off work on Friday and could walk into Chester ;-)

Can someone from Fridays Dublin show post on Saturday morning and let me know if I need to pack my wellies? I don't know if we are to be seated on solid ground, or on grass that might go a bit squelchy!

Ken, you take me back. We saw Steve Earle (married seven times so I don't know how many hearts in total were broken or by whom) in that rainy field in Mullingar. Before Christy and Declan took the stage for the finale to that marvellous day, the rain stopped, although I could not have cared tuppence if it were bucketing down. As I recall there was a lovely sunset behind the stage. We managed just fine with the outdoor conditions. Sheila and Helen had little stools that we took turns in sitting on. Gradually the legs would sink into the mud and the ground would seem to be rising up to meet you. So, after a while you had to excavate your seat and move position. Such are the details of which memories are made.

Tiggs I thought it was just Red Poppy who had a fetish about wellies.

Margaret, here is the regulation footwear for the concerts:

Diane
Thank you for the e-catalogue.
Are you Red Poppy's partner or first franchisee?
T-shirts, umber-ellas, gumboots and now copies of the original Red Poppy ensemble.
Will they be signed? And what will Pops be wearing this time?

Damellon, I almost forgot about Pops' show. He promised me he'd be wearing the white suit. If it be patterned with red poppies so much the better. I don't think you should wear those shoes to the concert. Think of the mud sliding between your toes.
