Pre-O2 meet-up in London - response to David's competition

Post by Padma » Sun Apr 27, 2008 5:17 pm

it's going to encourage anyone, we're thinking of running a FREE 'Pin the Wry Smile on the Leonard Cohen' competition.

David
David - there has been a real stampede in response to your competition. The following people have said they would like to meet before the 02 concert in London - and enter your competition!! A couple of people enquired about the prize - I told them you were organising that side of things (not me!). There are about 35 of us so far. We need to get our thinking caps on and decide where to meet and when. Maybe something in the afternoon (tea and oranges) and then a pub near the O2. Harry has suggested an old, traditional one near London Bridge. If anyone else has any ideas please pm either myself or David...... Michael and Songul have both said they are also happy to help with organising the day...

ps - I am updating the list a few posts below - rather than posting each time someone asks to be added to the list.

Can you please explain why I, alone, do not have a closing parenthesis after my name. I wonder if this is deliberately racist.

I noticed the mistake just after I posted the message but can't locate the edit button.........I am deeply upset that you are so clearly offended by my omission. I won't do it again (I promise.......

Any way Michael (I'll get back to you with a venue by tonight three weeks later fame - any ideas where we could meet?

Laura - it will be great to see you again....

moderator to the rescue... and the 'edit' button should be on the top line of any of your own posts, to the right of the title of the post.

See you all there! and thanks to all the organisers

Hello -
I shall be in town and I'd love to meet up if:
a. prize is alluring;
b. 02 ticket materializes, and
c. if very close to 02.
please add my name.
(ps I am a Scot in exile - should I shorten my name??)
All Bests,
Annie

How about a name abbreviation to 'A.Scot'? That would fit in better with your current domicile.
I used to be 'D from Argyll, Midlothian, Eastlothian, Lanarkshire (twice), Orkney, & Nairnshire but it was too cumbersome. As you can see, I have been detained at Her Majesty's pleasure on a few occasions but they never exiled me. :D

Hi Padma

Please count me in on this as well - I know of at least three others who'll be there in London and will join the ranks I'm sure, so I'll get onto them! :D

This will be like a Cohenite event in itself! ;-)

Cheers :)

this a wild plea for assistance ...

i want to change my username and have been inspired by damellon (28 April above). I can't find out how to do this - other than reregistering with a different name and password. I feel that "Annie from Scotland" is a wee bit pretentious. if anyone out there knows what to do to change a username, please advise me - I'd greatly appreciate this; I apologise for using forum space for this. (I can't even yet offer a winning attempt at David's competition. nb "yet" ....)

in hope,
Annie
