The Lillies in Berlin

Post by lightning »

If I were going there, I'd be sure to catch this show:
The Two Penny Opera is even cheaper than the original. Great cabaret!! Wild! Not for the prudish.
Two Penny Opera £12.99

"Two Penny Opera, it's one cheaper. A new version of that seminal work, Die Dreigroschenoper, focused through the dirty lens of the Tiger Lillies' vision. Love, death, betrayal, and redemption on the mean streets of London."

Yeah, Jurica is pretty mad about going to this show, that was the first thing he said when we persuaded him to go, that he will run away to see Tiger Lillies.

For those who haven't heard of the Lillies, please visit their website:

Search for the Irish TV video of Crack of Doom on their search engine. It gives challenge to Cohen's "The Future" with a touch of Ozymandias besides.

Martyn Jacques, opera-trained counter tenor and falsetto, theology school drop out, singer/songwriter, accordionist, who cites Jacques Brel and Kurt Weil as his influences, is one of the bravest, most orginal acts I've encountered these days.
The Tiger Lillies sign and sell their CDs at performaces so bring some cash along. Death and the Bible might interest Cohen fans, but Farmyard Filth is a classic, including the wonderful Sex with Flies, a topic I believe Cohen also mentions in the Book of Longing.
