Hello all.... I haven't felt inspired to contribute to the raging political debates on here of late. There's just too much to say and it crowds my head and would be a massive feat of concentration to get it down in an articulate way. However, on a recent trip to Venice I came across a British poetry magazine called The Rialto and in it there was this poem by Colin Robinson which tickled me and I hope it tickles you too:
The Message
In winter when the days are cold,
I stay at home and count my gold.
In spring when sap begins to mount,
I put it in a bank account.
In summer when the days are hot,
I go abroad and spend the lot.
In autumn when the leaves are red,
I feel depressed and stay in bed.
I sent a message to the bees,
I said, "I'd like some money please,"
They asked if I was being funny,
Said they only dealt in honey.
I sent this answer back to them,
"Just turn an H into an M!"
One morning as I sat alone,
I got a visit from a drone.
I said, "It isn't really so absurd,
It's only one fifth of a word."
He said, "I quite see what you mean."
He said he'd go and ask the Queen.
I waited all that day and night,
I waited 'til my hair turned white.
A swarm then killed my auntie Jill;
She left me millions in her will.
And when I heard that this was so,
I felt extremely sad; although.......
