Cover version of a song by Mary Gauthier on Kathy Mattea's new album Pretty Bird...

Kathy Mattea's voice at 59 is remarkably similar to present day voice of Joan Baez who is almost 78.

Hello again Kush,

What a sad but beautiful song and video. Thank you for posting it. I always associate Kathy Mattea with '455 Rocket' and still listen to that song occasionally. Slightly different from 'Mercy Now.'

Hi Tony,

455 Rocket is a terrific song and video. Have been a long time fan of Kathy Mattea and especially of her last 3 albums. Yes quite different from Mercy Now.

Here she is harmonizing with Emmylou Harris - another peerless voice in a different range. As Townes Van Zandt put it in song "the bottom low, the treble clear"

And a cover of Billy Edd Wheeler's song Coming of the Roads - a love song and environmental song rolled into one !

Two lovely songs, Kush. There sems a similarity in the sentiments of both of them with traditional Irish songs of nostalgia and regret.
