Hi Kwills. Yes, who'd have thought a bale of hay could be lethal.

I was picking blackberries in a narrow country lane last week with my husband, when a tractor came trundling by at some speed carrying large bales of hay,I squeezed into the hedgerow but I was still hit by the hay on my shoulder. The tractor driver never slowed down at all and my husband was furious with him! I had visions of myself being wrapped up in a bale of hay!

Heavens kwills, I'm glad you escaped unscathed! (I've picked a good few pounds of blackberries in recent weeks - they are sooo delicious aren't they.)

I love the song. It's a little repetitive, but I really enjoy the second entertainer....

Right now at this very moment I am listening to a compilation of songs by The Talking Heads.
What a fantastic group they were!

Thelonious Monk Misterioso live at The Five Spot 1958
Thelonious Monk - piano
Johnny Griffin - saxophone
Ahmed Abdul-Malik - bass
Roy Haynes - drums
The saxman is particularly good on this recording, and Monk is in great form playing some of his standards, also I like that painting by Giorgio De Chirico that graces the cover.

As mournful a collection of songs as I've ever heard but cheerfulness breaks through every now and then (as LC might put it)

Hi Kush,

I heard part of "American Routes" today on Public Radio and they aired a Marian Anderson recording of
"Deep River." "American Routes" is one of my favorite radio shows. Will check out the Anderson YouTube
links. Thanks.

Steven,

I did not know about the American Routes show. Just checked it out - it looks interesting. Thanks. Deep River is the first song on the Marian Anderson recording.

After watching Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him)? I've finished the day with listening to some of his albums... Nilsson Schmilsson, The Point!, A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night and Nilsson Sings Newman. :D

I have only recently started listening to Joni Mitchell. She is fantastic. If I am not listening to Leonard I am listening to Joni.
Thank you to a Forum member who sent me a clip of 'Coyote'. I am so grateful to him.

Tell me if you find a better compilation of songs than 'Hejira' :D

we had an evening of chilling beauty on belgian french-spoken national tv "la une" : documentaryies about jacques brel, and about an old radio-interview with brel, brassens and leo ferré around one table : a historic meeting of three giants ; heaven, and maybe that's what they're doing all the time now, talking and writing and singing.
