Re: Music You're Listening To

I haven’t really been able to listen to Leonard much since he died but today I let Alexa pick the tunes and she played “you got me singing”. First time I’d heard it, I bought the album but never listened. It really comforted me for some reason but apart from that I’ve been listening to a lot of Jason Isbell, Jerry Jeff Walker, John Prine and Chet Baker.

Yesterday I listened quite a few times to Leonard's most poignant track of "On That Day" from his Dear Heather album.

Today I’ve been listening again to my asstd. songs and singers (listed here a couple of pages back) and a song by Australian singer songwriter Doug Ashdown, born in Adelaide, South Australia reminded me to check out some of his other long since forgotten songs. The links below are the song that prompted me to search and the resulting good album found. He has a relaxing, unwinding style of singing and of course I love the strings and the guitar on the album.

The majority of the music (mix and master song) I listen to is Canadian Rock. There are some amazing Canadian artists out there!

lots of future sound of london, the orb, jean michel jarre live electronica concerts, ellie goulding and olivia rodrigo. my favourite at present is olivia rodrigo the sour prom. it's not an official release but it is amazing. loved her in bizaardvark and with sour she has produced the best album released so far this year.

Germaine Tailleferre, "Sonate pour Harpe". Beautiful and enchanting music, by a wonderful early-20th century French composer, played here by harpist Nora Bumanis.

I'm very much enjoying the "Concerto for Jew's Harp, Mandora and Orchestra in E Major" by Johann Georg Albrechtsberger (yes, that says "Jew's Harp"). Albrechtsberger was a very famous and well-regarded Austrian composer, organist, and music theorist, and he also happened to be one of the teachers of Ludwig van Beethoven. Here is the first movement -- an utterly delightful classical concerto with a twist!

Hi,

Music for the Hours

"introduced by Peter Phillips

As part of Radio 3’s “Capturing Twilight” season, throughout the day the Tallis Scholars, world renowned for their exquisitely pure tone and shimmering choral sounds, evoke the ancient Christian tradition of the Divine Office"
