The symbol occurred to me when we were discussing somebody's very nice unified heart tattoo (maybe we'll see a pic of it here sometime soon??) and how we really are some kind of a 'secret society' and needed a sign to greet each other. I think it really makes you feel connected in a Leonard sort of way. Thanks for posting Somewhat_Nifty, mine came out a bit blurred.

No probs, there were about 5 attempts to capture the majesty of it, but I think we all agreed that the first one was the best! As Paula says, it is almost Masonic - though for a true secret society I'm sure we'd need a few more steps, like rubbing your left ear and hopping on one leg or something ;-)

That's true, how about one person humming a line from a Leonard song and the other having to complete it ;-) - and all that while doing the hand symbol and hopping from left to right foot at the same time. Man, I need someone equally dedicated to practise this with (roll on Liverpool), my non-Cohenite fans will not know what happened to them if I ask for their help with this!

hehe, that's the spirit Happygirl :D How about exchanging lines from 'Is This What You Wanted?' - "You were the promise at dawn" "I was the morning after" - suitably cryptic ;-) 8)

Liverpool would be a great place for another meetup, it's on the right side of the Irish Sea for me and I've never been before.

Hi Nifty, Yeah I like that one, very enigmatic, to make it even harder it would have to be a different non-agreed song every time.

And re Liverpool was thinking maybe we could organise a Leonard Lyrics quiz or similar this time around. A Leonard games night so to speak. A pity we're missing the Liverpool Irish Festival, programme looking good.

It's the wrong side of the pennines but sounds a great idea !
We could get the Lancashire cohenites to buy us all a beer

that sounds great, though make mine a vodka and tonic!

As for a Leonard lyrics quiz - surely we'd all be too good?! ;-) Maybe we could hunt out the Leonard karaoke disc mentioned in another part of the forum?

It seems as if a fine time was had by all.
How come alcohol is visible in most photos?

Until Paula offered to organise a get together in the very north of Scotland,
That is England, Ireland and Wales we need to do Scotland next
I was thinking that Liverpool as 'capital of Ireland' ex 'capital of culture' home to so much good music and football would be an ideal place for a bit of fun early next year.

I'm running a pub (The Red Lion) in Parkgate (The Wirral) for a few weeks
http://www.allertonoak.com/merseySights/WirralSW.html
Thank goodness the Dublin/Barmouth gang aren't here. There's not enough beer in the cellar!
Wow Dave I thought you might have meant to say Cork there for a second...let see..."I was thinking that Cork as 'capital of Ireland' ex 'capital of culture' (2005)home to so much good music and football(?) would be an ideal place for a bit of fun early next year."... ok so the football reference gave it away a bit I admit!! But after Liverpool all are welcome to Cork!!

HappyGirl, I believe the hand symbol came into existance somewhere along O'Connell street on the way to Teachers or was it back by college green?! :D

Thanks Bernadine, piece of art!!I hope Leonard checks this part of the forum and values your dedication ;-) You can use it as your profile pic from now on.

I think any other Leonard meet-up city contenders should start getting in line now:

January 2010: Liverpool
February 2010: Cork
March 2010: would have to be Dublin again bc of St Patrick's Day?
April 2010: ???

Maybe we should get an old VW bus, paint it with Leonard symbols and lyrics and take to the road every month or so as the travelling Cohenites, what do you think? Something like this maybe: http://web420.com/blog/blog5.php/tag/painted+vw:
We would have to kit it out with the hippest audio equipment, a comfy sofa and mini (maxi?) bar of course. I'm sure the Isle of Wight DVD would be FABULOUS to watch in one of these!!!

Better go to bed now, getting a bit carried away...

I remember it was just before we got to a bridge that you grabbed me to show me, so that sounds about right :D

Loving the campervan idea 8) Though after Liverpool and Cork I volunteer London to selfishly save on further travelling ;-)

Hi,
It seems as if a few people may enjoy a visit to Liverpool in late January or early in February.

I'm a little restricted and isolated at the moment, but early November I'll chat with a few others and make a few suggestions.
A pity we're missing the Liverpool Irish Festival, programme looking good.
Managed to see Sharon Shannon on Tuesday. She was great and Damian Dempsey was the icing on the cake. The staid Phil audience were dancing in the aisles!
