Dad,

You told me of
Socrates, wine
Icarus & poetry.
Beethoven and
Mozart & who
was the best.
You explained
Bizet, Dylan,
Cohen & Frank.
Taught me the
basics of how
to make love.

In that dimly set
day, The Tree of
Life, was nothing
but fiction.

You were wrong

Dad,

I read your
poetry when
I was alone,
I needed it

You flew
with Kafka
Schopenhauer,
even Cohen

I have them
safely stored
in a basket,
or bookshelf

My daughters,
unborn and
unnamed, will
read them.

There are, and will always be, many languages.

Primarily because of the old British Empire and also because of so many wonderful movies emanating out of the United States, the World's Common language has become English.

We use, and always will -

FOR YOU

Aeons away
on the other side
of loneliness.
At the conclusion
to suffering.

There, I find you
beyond the reel
of broken hope,
of defeatism
and violence.

And it is there
we dispel the lie
haunting all our
gutsy forebears;

love wins, darling

The sages and mystics and all of their followers, all the king's men, asked, "What is Truth?"

A child walked up to them and gently whispered, "Don't lie."

On Sunday he entered Jerusalem on an ass. The people cheered, lay palm leaves at his feet. Supported him.

By Friday they had deserted him, preferred Barabbas. Few believed in him.

What happened?

They couldn't stand the truth.
