fell out early
with the excuse
that he came
so far for beauty

When Dylan declared
that he was in love
with the ugliest girl
in the world
I was ready to
throw in the towel

Then he praised
her inner beauty
and I knew there
was still a chance
to fall in love
with all women
so as to be sure
that the ugliest
is one of them
Now he calls from
behind me that he’s
not afraid to make love
to a bitch or a hag

just trying to distract
Still I’ll wait, because
as my son teaches me
that’s what’s in our
blood to do
