prayer & meditation

Post by abby » Tue Oct 04, 2016 4:31 pm

a genderless figure in black
throwing a rock as if in anger
in the same place not two hours ago
I gave the medicine of tears
& prayer to my panic

what do I do with my eyes

abby :)

I've come back to this a few times now, I like it very much.
It has strong visual images and I feel present when reading it. I feel the awkwardness that I would myself would feel being witness to the mysterious persons intimate moment and I like how that intersects with the narrators own intimate moment, how these two figures are having a shared experience even though only one is cognitive of it.
I find something about this comforting.

Hello friend!

It was comforting to me too Cate- sometimes my prayers get answered in a way I can recognize.

Your poem sets ringing a strong, fragile, fundamental joy, mostly beyond the reach of perception.
Thank you, Abby, on this day of sadness.

If there were a place I could live from it would be strong, fragile, fundamental joy. Sadness would be there too Jean, no less fundamental. What do you think I'll pray for tonight? That depth of experience, not the sidelong glance I more often give my life. Thank you for reminding me it's possible.
