I won't PLONK you yet, okat, as this is a Season of Goodwill. But you will need to show at least a hint of potential to entertain me otherwise you are pointless. Consider yourself on the edge of my trash-bin.

What a comeback! My goodness, this fellow has absolutely no originality! The bandwidth used in his repeating the same old thing over and over again is mind boggling. His replies are one step above the likes of "OH YEAH MAN!".

Hi Uncle smokin!

I know that the two sides of our family have been at war for many years but I give this advice with all sincerity. critic2 is playing with you, teasing you, and publicly humiliating you. Please, for the sake of any tiny shred of dignity you have left STOP EMBARASSING YOURSELF. mum was right, you really are a sad and hopeless bastard.

Deal, on the condition you won't lie about software...clearly an area which you are less than fully familiar with.
You remind me of those adolescent chatroom trolls that threaten to "send you a virus" over IRC. Good for a cheap laugh or two.

Season's Greetings,

Okat,

So, this can't be done? I'm not computer savvy, so I thought it might be possible. I looked around the link Critic2 gave but was unable to see anything for blocking unwanted posters. I'm beginning to feel like an idiot for wasting my time.

Despite critic2's attempts at arcane computer exploits, newsgroup reader software and webbrowser based BBS software are not interchangeable and can not be "configured" to be no matter what anyone tells you.
It's like saying your hybrid snowmobile/microwave oven will permit you to stay warm while sledding through the snow.

I think it is critic2 who is entertaining, entertaining enough for me to have nothing to contribute in the way of song and dance. I have no clue how to entertain someone who interacts socially by pointing their finger at you and loudly saying "I'm ignoring you!" I suppose you'll call me a "troll" next. It takes less effort to simply skip over posts that you don't want to read instead of proclaiming to everyone within earshot that you're "ignoring" them or using your jetski-propelled moose urine-fuelled "killfile" on them (the80s are over btw, "killfile" is a term that has the Dust Of Ages on it, just like the Commodore 64 you were probably using when it was current).

nice reply okat. I am going to unkillfile you immediately!

I don't always keep up with changing language as it is unnecessary in my line of work. I know I could ask my computer guy but can you tell me whether the expression "nerd" still applies to anyone who is obsessive about their knowledge of the workings of computers and loudly proclaims that knowledge to everyone within earshot.

Also is there any special word these days for someone who so misjudges the tone of an exchange that they drain all the fun out of it by being inappropriately serious. When I were a lad we called such a person a "spoilsport" or a "miserable bastard". What would the young folk of today say?

Oh, so now it's the "tone" of your posts that we misunderstand.

You tried to snow everbody with your "computer guy" and your "plonking". Only an old geezer would think that would work.

The young folk of today have word for you, Michael. And it's LIAR!

Hello Grandma

how are you today. you sound as if you still have those nasty piles! remember that the doctor said to watch your blood pressure. Have you tried to take up a nice little hobby to calm you down? You used to knit a lot until the doctor said you mustn't have any sharp instruments any more.I know! why don't you try to write a poem?

hi grandma,

when I said you should take up a hobby I didn't have in mind you becoming the world's oldest troll! do you think this is wise considering your piles and your heart condition? anyway, grandma the family is right behind you however you choose to spend your dotage.

Grandma, why are you on a poetry site making a minor nuisance of yourself. You don't write poetry and you don't critique poetry.

are you running a campaign against "Michael". Ooooh, how exciting! It's lovely when old folks become politically active!
