I empathise. The World could be a massive ball of dung with billions of dung-beetles screwing their lives around it. I gave up on Hope when I became more aware that 'shit' has been happening for thousands of years.
What I didn't give up on is Love.
You can shove the rest of humanity into a barrel and flush it over Niagra, but Love'll make it float.
The bastards can't get at you cos Love is subjective.
The bastards can shaft you every which way, but they can't shaft Love.
"I said that."

Oh its wonderful, I'm not alone. I love you guys.

Hi Elizabeth. Words would be surplus for your loss. I'll just send Love.

Byron, you are right. It is love.
No matter how hard hate tries,
love wins.

This is what 'the bastards' can't understand.
This; and indomitable hope.

------

To be with you
our first home
by the tracks.
No onlookers
expecting things
watching us.

I was free then
no Truth to shield
no job to do.
Just me
naked in winter
and you.

When you see me
look at my scars
touch them.
Each hope
litmus testing
the pain.

Sign the truce
hold my hand
pray now.
Our love
up against all
the strife.

------

Have a peaceful Sabbath,
Boss

indomitable hope.
Could a case be made to claim that such hope is a form of Love ?
The personal desire to strive for the seemingly impossible ?
The need to fulfil what the heart demands ? craves ?

Just a thought. :?

It is a good thought, Byron.
Could Hope be the manifestation of ~ or the byproduct of ~ our Love of life?

Thank you for your Love regarding my loss.

Boss ~

You and your thoughts and feelings are treasures.
Without You, these spaces would be notably lacking.

Please keep coming and sharing.

The greedy cannot see
The hunger of the soul
But I found a tinge of truth
In an orange soda pop
My brother calls out loud
'Bout Arma Armageddon
But I'm a slave to pigeons
Taking potshots in the yard
I heard three wizened poets
In my freedom of today
But once a call gets empty
It is frozen in the black
So who would listen now
In a culture out to lunch?
No one can read my thought
It is done and dusted gone
My very close companion
She said get a new idea
Like love'll never hurt ya'
But avoidance it can kill
I cried the other day
'Bout death and so and so
But no one there would listen
To a lonely, frightened man

Awareness of ... self... mortality... knowing Death is coming... being helpless in its thrall... and living each night with its... little brother.
Sleep is Death's Little Brother... why do people fear the dark ?... Just join the dots I've given.

I know a man who has the whole world on his shoulders. He is a thoughtful bloke. Well intentioned, kind. He knows of the sorrow in men's hearts. Why it is there; who rams it in for petty benefits, who has to pay. He tries his guts out. By the river he tries, in the black of night, in the morning. He knows G-d has no name but still he loves him. He knows how men tick, he articulates peace.

That man is you.

Hi Byron and Boss,
I'm usually more manic than black;
but lately I've misplaced my bright and shiny beliefs
lost my faith
in both god and myself;
I too have been stumbling in that Dark Night, Byron.

I haven't quite cried
but I wish I had.

Years ago I used to get drunk with this friend of mine
and we would go sauntering all over the hills and flats
just out of town
arms over shoulders
and then stagger back to camp
and the fire
the chatter was heaven,

but I don't have those sort of mates anymore
I'm not that sort of mate anymore
and I'm poorer for it.

I've lost my way

But I'd love to go staggering into those Dark Nights
with Byron and Boss
had I the blessing of their arms
over my shoulders.

The wind at the beach
is special
It can cause ripples
Carry boats - fill their
sails

You are the wind
Your dawn in the
north, the south

Too much causes havoc
Too little ain't enough

You can know balance
It's there all along

I know it
So do you

That's beautiful Adam - it makes me feel calm.

It's true about wind by the beach - it feels a bit magical. I grew up not to far from a beach called the Sandbanks (because it was a sandbank) - you could walk a kilometre out and never go above your head. I liked to stay closer to shore but the waves there were spectacular (for a lake) but if you went away from the bank the water was calm.

I know a beach like that, Cate. It is close but I haven't been there in years. Instead, I wrote these:

God Is Alive

Three-one up in the second set. Television airs a pissweak sitcom. Mars bars have so many calories. The top ten is all cliche. An animal is killed for its tusk. Schizoid doctor, two faced poet, glib billionaire...

they cannot win.

Dirty lie, cheating boss, bankrupt culture, sinking company, power mad, fiscal drama, wonky deal, greedy guy, income tax, crooked scene, stolen money, weighted loan, bad broker, worse banker, Dow Jones...

they cannot win.

Tank and flag and intercontinental ballistic missile and soldier and shrapnel and bullet and insurgency and dead peasant and North Korea and fire and hate and spin and gun...

they cannot win.

Tomorrow

Evil comes in many shades. In Star Wars, Luke was up against an entire empire of it. So was Gandhi. Makes you think about bullies. How they always fall, always. How good transcends the evil lie. I used to be a bully, especially in high school. I ended up a nobody, nothing. It doesn't work. Right now on this planet we have bullies determining our fates - what we're allowed to have, know and be. What we can buy, who we must pay. Often they go undetected - never being questioned of their power and their privilege. But there is something that knows, there is Justice. There is indeed 'a mighty judgement coming'. And no one can stop it. No one.

What is wrong with us?

What is wrong with us? There is something fundamental, there is something hard that is attacking each of us. We have lost our friendship, we are so far from compassion. It seems the world of 'get' is killing us - our generosity, even our love. When you live in a world that has no spirit, no sacred, when you live in a world controlled by billionaires, what hope do you have? There is a way out. Say a prayer tonight. If you can, say a prayer every night. It is a beginning. It defies the prison of greed and hate. And it touches love.

Hello Boss,

Earlier this week, a radio host asked this old standard toward the end of an interview:
'When you look back on your life, do you have any regrets?'

The response (paraphrased):
'I suppose I have the same regrets as many people do. I wasn't brave enough. And I wasn't kind enough.'

Nice to 'see' you back here, Boss-man.
