Our 8th Hydra Meet-up was very successful. We had 205 participants from 26 countries, and more program than never before (except the Leonard Cohen Event in 2002, our first gathering on this beautiful island).

Eija and I want to thank all of you for joining us, and for spending a long and lovely weekend with other Cohenites under the Mediterranean sun.

We would like to read your recollections and feelings in this thread. Photos will be posted onto our Gallery site sooner or later, and I am sure that Wijbe is going to do another great video report!

It was my second visit to the island and we had a great time. Being with my beautiful daughter, meeting friends, the sun and the beaches, great food and of course the music of Leonard ( sometimes until the night turned into day) was such fun and experience that I am already looking forward to 2021!
Big thanks to Jarkko and everyone who helped to make this event possible

Dear Jarkko and Eija:

Thank you for putting together an awesome event. It was my first Hydra meet-up and it far exceeded my expectations. We met the first five Cohenites on the ferry to the island and the connection - not surprisingly - was instantaneous. More followed when we arrived and in a true spirit of LC all those we met were the kindest people. And so much fun! I had a blast discussing LC’s writings with folks whose Cohen-acumen was nothing short of scholarly - truly an intellectual feast. The programs, too, were terrific. Loved Epidaurus and wine-tasting (was actually able to “smuggle” into the US the wines we bought ) Just being on the island, experiencing its beauty like Leonard did, sitting under his tree at Douskos, visiting Kamini and finding Marianne’s house was priceless. The most touching moment for a few of us must have been during one of our several pilgrimages to Leonard’s house and hearing So Long Marianne being played inside presumably by Lorca. Surreal and unforgettable.

Heartfelt thanks,

Marianne's house. Yes, I want to see it the next time I'm there.
