There is an old saying I remember from my grandmother.."You'll always know you mother, but you'll never know your father" meaning that as children we are able to understand our mother, but understanding our father is almost impossible to do. Seamus Heaney's poem 'Digging' brings it out, a...

You must be a "dog" person. So am I. Not that I don't like cats but when I was five years old my parents gave me a boxer puppy. I suppose one never gets over early childhood imprints. My former husband and I owned a boxer, too, Schone Frau. He'd had the same childhood imprinting that you ...

Firstly, congratulations indeed to Leonard who most definitely deserves this highest of Canadian homours! :D Secondly, Dem & Paula, I would also concur with your views on the Concorde - I first saw it when I was working at an office in Greenford (London) where I could admire its sleek beauty (wh...

... Chartering a flight might be an option  ... ... One day, some way, I'll show up, however. Elizabeth Maybe we should check to see if Richard Branston (Virgin Airlines) is a Cohen fan & would give globe-trotting fans a hefty discount to attend LC events (complete with in-flight LC music ...

Even if the poet woman isn't interested in joining herself, perhaps she might consider allowing you to post it 8) ? One never knows...... . Elizabeth I did suggest that to her, so I'll wait to see what transpires - maybe she's just busy or away at the moment. :| Cheers :) Andrew (Darby)

Greg Thank you for your words of appreciation and encouragement - it was great to have you join us and to know that the big drive was worthwhile! :D I just hope more folk from the south will make the effort in coming years - it's good to see LC fans in Oz overcoming the tyranny of distance! I...

Dear Andrew ~ ...so lucky, as to be in the company of so many Leonard lovers... Why don't you ask the woman to come here and join, and post her poem in the Forum Poetry section? ~ Elizabeth Elizabeth We certainly have some "diehard fans" at our event, but given the type of venue this is h...

For what it's worth, our national youth radio broadcaster (though some years ago now) listed this version of Hallelujah as one of their top 50 covers of all time! 8) http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/jfiles/files/s234594.htm I would have to agree with this assessment - I think it is almost unsurpassable...

Dem Thanks for that interesting information on Charmian Clift, George Johnston & the Aussie connection with Hydra. I can remember when I was at high school in probably 1966 or 1967 that George Johston's book "My Brother Jack" was banned here in Queensland schools as a study text (becau...
