Re: Waiting For The News To Come

Yes, Bev, I‘m still in Cairns, as far away from that awful Melbourne outbreak as I can be.

Irrespective, I’m indeed awaiting my double joy! ;-) 8)

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Re: Waiting For The News To Come

All hoped-for things will come to you Who have the strength to watch and wait, Our longings spur the steeds of Fate, This has been said by one who knew. Lady Mary Montgomerie Currie (1843-1905) [AKA - Violet Fane] So, I’m patiently waiting too, but in my case it’s a twofold thing, as I’m also waiti...

Re: Greece Poems

Hi Woody, I think I've found evidence that Leonard did finish a few poetry books on Hydra. Firstly, these three poetry books were published in the sixties when he was primarily resident there: The Spice-Box Of Earth (1961); Flowers For Hitler (1964); and Parasites Of Heaven (1966). Secondly, in the ...

Re: The Hydra Bench: trees & bushes!!

Thanks Jarkko... lovely to see! :D

I’ve also been missing Hydra, particularly as I’m now reading Polly Samson’s ‘A Theatre for Dreamers’, which beautifully conjures up everything about Hydra I relate to and, of course, what it means for us as Cohenites. 8)

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Re: Random LC moment I am adoring today

Hi Bev, guess what, I flew up to Cairns on March 17th to celebrate a birthday milestone with my siblings, and as the Coronavirus scenario developed over the following days, I decided to stay up here, as fortunately my family had a spare house I could avail myself of... so I’m now ensconced up here, ...

Re: Random LC moment I am adoring today

Hi Bev, I too watched the same movie and was taken by surprise when it came on. When I heard the start of it, I thought, no it can’t be The Partisan, just a passing similarity, then sure enough, happily it unfolded to indeed be that song from Songs From A Room. 8) It’s good to know you’re staying we...

Re: EVENT POSTPONED

Hi Maarten, it is indeed so sad the event needed to be postponed after all the hard work you’ve undertaken organising things thus far... we applaud you for that :!: I’ve no particular preference re what year it should go ahead. I am never sure if I can make it to these events that are so far away fr...

Re: Ladies Who Sing Leonard - Memo Music Hall

Last night Junk and I experienced this fabulous concert featuring six talented vocalists and a few other instrumentalists performing a worthy selection of Leonard’s songs, as follows: Hey That’s No Way to Say Goodbye; Bird on a Wire; Tower of Song; Dance Me to the End of Love; Suzanne; Famous Blue R...

Re: Another film about Marianne's life & Leonard & Hydra

Jarkko & Anne, thank you so much for providing the information about this new film, with the Vimeo link to the film itself :!: I have now watched the whole 2 hours plus of this film and, despite quite a bit of it being in Norwegian, have to say it was such a powerful experience that beautifully ...

Re: "Thanks for the dance" - the new album

Interview with Adam Cohen on BBC radio - starts at 1:34:45 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000c0rs?fbclid=IwAR1isoVNtaWg2FJFrfjVrmP6u9DRxb1NFGQnLqqkb3zddAH3rVs6Z4kiihY Thanks Brian, such a great interview; so heartfelt, so reaffirming, what Adam has to say about his father. 8) Cheers, Andrew :)
