Re: never-ending gallery
Lisa, Thanks so much for taking the time to educate me on the skill and nuance that pianists employ in their work, and for your critique of the backwards version pointing out the many ways that it falls short. Listening to Seymour Bernstein's version right after reading your explanation made all of ...

Re: never-ending gallery
Interesting miscellany for (those of us in the US) Thanksgiving Day. I have a lot of classical albums (they were my father's, he loved music of all kinds), but I play them only rarely since my old turntable is quirky. I do have some classical music stored in my 300-disk CD player, however, and they ...

G, Please note that I totally disagree with your abstinence from pork (bacon--yum, yum), and mostly disagree with your decision to avoid vaccinations (although I am leery of vaccinations if the agents have not gone through rigorous testing). But I would never characterize your exercise of free speec...

Thanks John, glad that you are blessed with such a good memory faculty. Until now my knowledge of the 1970 Isle of Wight concert was limited to the Cohen DVD, now I can appreciate that DVD with a spectator's perspective.

Re: never-ending gallery
Keith Richards' "it's great to be here" line always cracks me up. He'll be 80 in December...who could have guessed?

This is all is very interesting indeed, and it points to the wisdom of not jumping to conclusions based on what one hears in the media. Thanks so much for posting this, Marie.

Re: never-ending gallery
[am not sure if anyone is reading this, but i am wondering if it is soon time to wind this gallery/discussion group down - as it more or less no longer seems to serve much of a purpose. been thinking of this for a while. i love cohen, computers and making pictures, so will still be somewhere around...

Re: 'live songs' - 1973 album review
Re eclectic musical tastes: Back in the early 1990s my wife asked me to purchase a few opera CDs the next time I was in NYC since at that time there was a huge record store called Sam Goody's in NYC that dealt with virtually every music genre. Also at that time the film about the musical group "...

Yikes, how could I have forgotten "crickets," he also mentioned them in "Night Comes On" and "Bunch of Lonesome Heroes."

Re: never-ending gallery
Hi G, Very clever and humorous drawing. As a cat owner, I must say that you have portrayed their postures and mannerisms perfectly. Most think of cats tracking down mice and birds, but many times I have seen our cats on the hunt for a spider or some other insect. Question to ponder: How many bugs wo...

Re: never-ending gallery
Like the wood duck drawing Lisa, I have been fascinated by vivid colors since I was a tyke. I've never seen one, but according to pictures wood ducks are indeed very colorful, but perhaps not to the degree in your drawing, but that would be artistic license. While not often commenting, I usually rea...

Lisa, you are absolutely right. (Don't you love when people say that about something you say?) The administrators, including our treasured Jarkko, do what they can, but these bot posts can crop up out of the blue at any time. Please don't lay this on the administrators' feet, G. The world has always...

Just another unprincipled shill trying to hawk stuff with no Cohen connection on our forum.

Re: never-ending gallery
Oh G, what person who reads this forum would not know that song? I may be in the minority on this, but since discovering LC almost exactly 52 years ago, the first album I heard (SOLAH) remains my favorite. Many memorable lyrics in those songs. To me a shoe size of 47 brings forth images of clowns we...

Re: never-ending gallery
G,
My previous post was a (failed) attempt at humor based on your "Tom Waits" post, sorry to mislead you. But know that if I ever did write a book about Leonard, it would speak of him favorably!
