Re: Leonard Cohen opera

Dear Marcia, Greetings. I just wondered if you might consider sharing your work with others who feel deeply about LC, as well as seeking to reach the the man himself? If, as some sages believe, we are all connected, then perhaps we all share a little of LC's spirit together, and might appreciate you...

My Parasite

I’ll keep myself in motion now I’ll find some things to do While my parasite is feasting Devouring me clear and blue Rank with her visionary sight Burrowing in my heart to feed Sucking it dry bleeding it white Lost love can never sleep She has no peace facility Travels by day and hunts by night Eati...

Re: My Death

Yes, Leonard mentioned several people, and you were surely one.

I am honoured when you mention my name, however you spell it. The music of your saying is the same.

Re: My Death

Yes, today still okay. Saw Leonard last night at Radio City. He too was alright, and bright.
Thank you for the news, many thanks. Be well.

Re: My Death

Thanks so much DJ.
I was writing to Jacques Brel's song, and remembering also David Bowie's version of it (both are referenced in the poem). You're right, Scott Walker sang it too.
I had realized we all must sing this song.
Warm good wishes.

My Death

A rosy cross held to the face of my death For death is moving in here with me Better than to drown in my summoning tears For with tears you showed us how to be free I advise us now, while listening to Brel To dance with the waltz of joy in the heart The addicts of suffering, the tango of fate Boasti...

Re: There is a man who lives beside the ocean.

Thank you, Cate. It is a lovely poem. Some of us will start wishing to be that man! I find that sleeping near the sea brings a special quality to some dreams.

I like the verse construction too. That is artful and delicate of you.

Good wishes, Richard

I'll send you a duffel coat if you need one.

I'm happy that you like the poem. I know you are a tough critic to please ... :D

Something warm

Suddenly, everyone’s parents were dying Falling down stairs and crashing the walls Tumbling like the leaves outside Wilting like weightwatchers gone wild. Funerals, eulogies Kaddishes were sung In tearfilled voice by trembling sons Children not so young United unexpectedly in grief By stealth, with ...

Our Time

Dying is our crucifixion Our time enduring on the cross A juice-soaked sponge To moisten lips and gums Our time of thirst and terror Of silence where night comes And then at last, arrival To a tiny exhalation Of cease and expiration Letting go of breath and pain Freed to let go and fall Into the all...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: New York City, NY - December 18, 2012

Utterly wonderful!! Beyond words. I agree with what has been said. The Old Ideas songs seemed so good, so right. Show me the Place was extremely moving, as was Come Healing. But hard to single out too much. The concert was an immaculate, passionate, organic whole. Thank you, Leonard, Sharon .. and a...

Re: Feeling a bit better about simply being human

I agree with you all, about Leonard's light and how it shines upon Love and humanity.
But also: we need to do it for ourselves. We need to help and support one another in our humanity, in the struggle of being human .... even, perhaps, as if there were no Leonard(s) ...

Re: Jazz police

Yes, I agree with you! Jazz Police is quite a blast, with ssome fine lines _ "guys like me are mad for turtle meat". The piano bits are very nice too. Sometimes L's phrasing is a bit awkward though. It's the song after that I don't like so much - "I Can't Forget"! Not nearly as c...
