For everyone who is so vitriolic in their responses to the results of this election and the war ----Get off this forum, get off your --s and DO something. I don't think much of your all-consuming concern. Joining an organization or giving money to some peace cause is obviously not enough. Chain your...

Thanks Lizzytysh. We fight but we get over it.

Teratogen, I am going to be generous and put down your expressions of hatred towards me as a hold-over of the time I made fun of your poem. I bear you no ill will. But you need to grow up. Soon.

Lightning, Nice. It's the sort of thing that makes fly-over people like me dig in their heels. But what can you expect...I'm not one of those educated people of America." I am not "sophisticated or nuanced or respectable ." I live in a "giant vat of utter blind faith." Must ...

The cover of the Guardian 2 magazine today simply expresses the mood of liberal Britian - it is a plain black cover with the two small words "Oh God" in white. That's the funniest thing I've heard in a long time. I was just watching France2 --- it did me good to see all that existential d...

Lizzytysh...I got a friend who will give you all of her listening time. She said it was pathetic. She told me she skipped from track to track trying to find a decent song and finally gave up and got out a Dean Martin CD.

Just a thought. But I suggest we let fly at the poems and not the judge.

Laurie, Sorry to hear about the flu. More importantly I hope everything goes all right today with your job. Ignore everything else. I wish you hadn't felt compelled to rush in the judging. I had suggested to Lizzytysh that this take a week or two. The poem that won was a good one. Ignore the madness.

Lizzytysh...

I gave DH:

3 A++++
1 A+
3 A-
3 B+
2 C-
1 D- (which should have been an F -- but I graded on a curve)

In otherwords, I liked this album. It takes after it's daddy.

National Midnight Star

I ripped open the cellophane and this is what I found: Go No More A-Roving: With the first bar I thought “ackkkkk” --- TNS. But then Leonard picked up the pace very nicely and by the end I was humming along. A- Because Of: I’ve always hated this poem. It reminds me of nothing more than an ole’ roos...

I think the poems should all be on one thread. It doesn't look like there will be too many to make the thread unwieldy. It will make it easier to compare them. Keep them all under quarantine on one thread. If you don't -- the poems will be all over the place when people start complain...uh...commmen...

Its principal character is a retired journalist, just turning 90, who decides to mark his birthday by sleeping with a 14-year-old virgin prostitute (the book is set in Colombia in the 1950s, putting plenty of cultural distance between us and the uncomfortable morality of that time and place). "...
