Re: Hallelujah Set To Words By Bereaved Israeli Father
Not sure that Leonard would approve his song being appropriated by these guys. One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. And I am quite sure, Rodin, that Leonard would not approve of your cold, dark and hateful heart, so lost in a distorted political agenda that it has become blind to the u...

Dick
He plays guitar ( sound familiar ! ) and plans to be another Van Halen.
He is good; I advised him to have a day job as a backup!

Actually, Leonard is everywhere! Last night, at Berklee College of Music, the feature song of the concert welcoming incoming Freshman was "Everybody Knows" sung by well known jazz vocalist, Robin McFall. Everyone was standing and clapping, cheering....just like the Tour! Our son's educati...

Re: Would LC consider this?
I too have always wondered about Leonard's feelings toward his fans. I recently came across an early interview given to Bruce Pollock that appeared in After Dark in February, 1977. It expresses a fatalism that is so compelling and so sad at the same time .........and which may explain his storied re...

Re: Chelsea Hotel plays out NEWSNIGHT
Seems counter-intuitive that the plaque honoring Leonard at the entrance to the Chelsea Hotel will be the first thing that will be seen by guests at the future glitzy "boutique hotel". The nadir of sensitivity!

Re: Leonard Cohen Hydra Friends Reunite with Marianne, May 2
Arlene, Thanks for posting these pictures. As they reach back 35 years to the well-described romance with Leonard, they remind us that, despite severe depression, Leonard must really have understood the mystery of women ( "Because of" in the Dear Heather album ) to have been able to sustai...

Re: Leonard and Roshi (Aug 2, 2011)
Here is a rare interview with Roshi in the New York Times, given (through an interpreter) on the occassion of his 100th birthday in 2007.
A remarkably deep perspective on his zen philosophy.

Re: Leonard's experience with Cohenites
Leonard's poetry on this theme .........
"I didn´t kill myself when things went wrong
I didn´t turn to drugs or teaching
I tried to sleep, but when I couldn´t sleep
I learned to write.
I learned to write what might be read
on nights like this by one like me"
