Re: The Cohen finger picking style

I have learned "Bird on the Wire" as it is written it doesn't sound right, not as Leonard plays it. There seem to be too many notes to fit in! Well, this might sound complicated, but it really isn't. If you want to play Bird On The Wire close to how it sounds on Live Songs, I'll tell you ...

More Leonard on TV: Criminal Minds

First off I'll admit that I probably watch to much TV - we all have our vices. Anyway, the season premiere of Criminal Minds (The Longest Night)featured 4 songs: The Night Comes on; Dance Me To The End of Love; Sisters of Mercy: Who by fire. All were the versions from the original albums. At least n...

Re: The Light Gets In - Stage production, Thunder bay, Ontario

I'm originally from Thunder Bay (home of the largest finnish community outside of Finland and the wonderful nationally reknowned Hoito restaurant.) I live in Soo Ontario now, a mere 700 km away but I am considering a trip up to take in the show if I can work it out.

Re: A part of the misdirection

Mat, These lines stopped me in my tracks, (as they say) Vern. What a Beautiful image. Shades of Prufrock in you evolving life/poem. Thank you for those comments. That is quite the compliment and perhaps undeserved. I did a paper on 'Prufrock' many many years ago in a University course and I am a big...

Re: The Drive

Sheila,
Thanks for your comments. After I wrote that one, I began to realize that I was beginning to enter the 'dirty old man' stage of life. Boy how things change when you can view them from an different position!!

Re: Suddenly thinking Karen

Lizzy, I guess most of have experienced difficult moments in our lives and I guess it is how we come through them that speaks about who we are. The first few lines in this poem were written while lying in bed in a cardiac ward in a Toronto hospital where I spent three weeks. It was quite lonely as I...

Re: A part of the misdirection

Thank you Alsiony, I am quite happy with those lines. The poem itself is part of a series of poems I am working on that are basically connected (the two others I have already posted and one I will post later today.) They are the result of a little 'navel gazing' that I have been going through recent...

Re: Someone on the writing staff of "Fringe" must be a Cohen fan

I saw that episode as well and debated whether to mention it here. After dropping her pen and the 'main character' Peter picked it up and read what was witten on the pen - 'Find The Crack' - and commented on how it was an odd slogan for a police force. She replied that it wasn't, then said 'In the d...
