Re: John Prine
Thanks for the info and links Steven/Sturgesse et al - kind of ironic isn't it that both Ebert and Prine have suffered disfiguring cancers? Fortunate for both of them and for all of us neither lost their "voice" though Ebert's remains only in print now but luckily Prine is able to keep on ...

Re: John Prine
I first saw (and became a fan of) John Prine in 1972 when he opened for Jackie DeShannon (I'm not kidding!) at the Troubador in Los Angeles. Saw him twice more at the Cambridge Folk Festival (1973 & 1975) along with his good friend (and dearly departed) Steve Goodman. Bert Jansch (sp.?) was ther...

Fly cover picture from "So Long Marianne"
I received LC's permission to post this - it is on the inside fly cover of the Norwegian publication - although I did not take the picture, it was given to me a long time ago and I did supply it to the author and received a credit. Enjoy! It was taken in 1963 as Leonard and Marianne were walking thr...

Re: Photograhs of Hydra by a German man, Hartmut Witte
The woman in the large brimmed hat & sunglasses in the photograph on page 53 from 2008 is Suzanne Elrod. The woman on page 62 with the bag over her shoulder is Christina - the owner of Christina's Taverna - one of my (and Jarkko's) favorites. The photo of the interior on page 64 is the taverna -...

Re: Name tags for LV and/or San Jose and LV dinner on 11th
I am so happy to see that you will be in San Jose Lizzie, but sad about Las Vegas... to quote another favorite of mine "you can't always get what you want..." there will be much mutual transfer of energies in LV however, and I'll send you some of mine via our new mutual friends. That beer ...

Re: Dinner in Las Vegas - 11 November
We will (hopefully) be there on the 11th in time to join you all for dinner. My given name is Judy. My partner's name is Monika. Our good friends Lindsey and Robert may be joining us as well - they will be arriving from San Francisco - but have not locked in arrangements yet. REALLY looking forward ...

Re: Ideas for Las Vegas
Aah, Lizzie, I am disappointed as well that we won't meet up in Vegas - but you know you have a standing invitation to visit here in L.A. any time you want - and don't worry - we'll share that beer and memories one of these days...

Re: Ideas for Las Vegas
My partner and I would be very happy to join the Forum members in Las Vegas for dinner/drinks/whatever and some good get acquainted chatter. I will bring some of my old photos from Hydra and my copy of Marianne's book to share with you all. I haven't booked our flight/hotel yet - last minute deals a...

Re: marianne's new book
While in Toronto for the film festival last month, I had several meetings with an old friend who works in PR for several Canadian authors. She has good contacts at McClelland and Stewart Ltd. and worked for them for a time in the past. However, she is quite convinced the manuscript must be translate...
