Re: ‘They booed Joni Mitchell and threw s**t at Jimi Hendrix’: The amazing story of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival
I read that article earlier. It covers certain aspects of the festival quite well, but I don't remember anything being thrown at Jimi (unless it's metaphorical). Also, I don't think it was Joni that was being booed; only the disruptive people that she was addressing.

Kenny White in Concert Video
This is a full concert on a high quality video by a truly excellent singer-songwriter. I urge people to watch and listen to it from start to finish. Kenny White has supported Judy Collins more than once in the U.K., and David Crosby played on his last album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRMvk6UiA...

First time I've heard about it too, Alan! I wonder if David himself knew he was Australian?

Re: R.I. P. Julie Felix
Like many from the Sixties generation I first saw Julie Felix on David Frost’s “Frost Report” programme on TV. For those of us in the U.K., Julie was the “English” Joan Baez, introducing the public to many great folk artists (though some will only remember her for the song “Going to the Zoo”). Somew...

R.I. P. Julie Felix
Very sad news. My dear friend Julie Felix has passed-on, after a short illness. If you search for "Julie Felix" on Facebook and Google, you should now find several tribute articles.

Perla Batalla at the Union Chapel (30th Nov. 2019)
Solo concerts by Leonard's ladies don't usually seem to attract large audiences, and previously, when playing in London, artists such as Anjani Thomas, Sharon Robinson, and the Webb Sisters have tended to play at smaller venues such as Green Note, the Jazz Cafe or Bush Hall. To the contrary, Islingt...

Re: Leonard Cohen on the front cover of the January 2020 issue of MOJO
The January Mojo is already available on bookstalls in London (I bought my copy at Euston station, yesterday); the price is £6.50. Those with a collector mentality, might wish to unpeel the plastic cover carefully, because the picture on the wrap is different to the one on the magazine cover (a stri...

Re: BEST COVER VERSIONS OF A LEONARD COHEN SONG OF ALL TIME
Although she accompanies Leonard on his original version of "Nightingale", Anjani's own version is an extremely rare case of a cover improving on the original. I love both versions, but Anjani's version is heartbreaking and beautiful:

"Hallelujah" by Madeleina Kay (EU Supergirl)
Here's a nice version of "Hallelujah" by Madeleina Kay (though she uses Alexandra Burke's "how to shoot somebody who outdrew you" rather than Leonard's "how to shoot at someone who outdrew you"). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5VCsCDuZyw Madeleina is a political activ...
