Re: Vienna, Sept 24 and 25
And please don't moan so much about "too quiet". I would like to see everyone of us doing something like this at 74! This is not a criticism of Leonard's performance at all, it's directed at the sound engineers. They could have given the performance a bit more impact if they had turned up...

Concert in Vienna in 1993 – any details?
The Files tell us that Leonard played at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna in 1993, details here: http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/93vienna.html This looks odd to me. In the first place, the Happel is a gigantic football stadium (it's where the final of the Euro 08 tournament took place earlier thi...

Re: Vienna, Sept 24 and 25
Or wasn't that the number that he introduced saying, "The last time I was on this stage was 15 years ago, when I was just a kid of sixty with a crazy dream." (??) This is just another of his scripted lines. And in this case not a particularly accurate one either, since he last played the ...

CONCERT REPORTS: Vienna, September 24 and 25
Great show on the 24th but IMHO too quiet. They should have pumped up the PA a bit, made the walls of the Konzerthaus shake a little. Sharon was back and in great voice. No surprises in the set list (no 'Partisan' or 'Famous Blue Raincoat' which I read were played in Bucharest). I was a little disap...

Re: Setlists
Vienna, Sept 24. Same as Bucharest except 'Boogie Street' instead of 'Partisan' and no 'Famous Blue Raincoat'.

Re: Vienna Sept. 24 meet up ?
There are any number of bars in the 1st district (walking distance from the Konzerthaus) which stay open until 2am. If you go a bit further afield to the Gürtel area you can find places that stay open until 3am, perhaps 4. First prize though goes to a bar/club called Goodmans which stays open all ni...

Re: Vienna Sept. 24 meet up ?
I am going to both shows but sadly I am only free for a meet-up after the second show on the 25th. Let me know if anyone is interested in going for a post-gig drink that night.

Re: Vienna Sept. 24 meet up ?
The Konzerthaus is not in the centre of Vienna but is not at all far from it. It's a stone's throw from Schwarzenbergplatz, a busy junction with a decent old-style Kaffeehaus , Cafe Schwarzenberg, close by. The venue also lies just beyond the south-eastern part of the Ring, the showpiece boulevard t...

Re: Konzerthaus in Vienna - Sept. 24 - ON SALE
You're right, the ticket doesn't cover travel to and from the airport. It only covers travel within the city itself (U-Bahn, tram, bus) to and from the concert. So you could only really get away with using it on the evening of the 24th.

Re: July 2008 performances of Glass' Book of Longing in Europe
But as far as I am concerned Leonard's work cannot be interpreted meaningfully simply by a fine voice emanating through a gifted throat. It needs to come from a deeper place, the heart, the gut or below, or to put it more simply it needs to come from whichever place in the psyche it was written fro...

Re: Konzerthaus in Vienna - Sept. 24 - ON SALE
Does anyone have any ideas about what hotel the band may be staying in? Which hotel is closest to the Konzerthaus? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Mary The closest hotel is the Intercontinental, which is literally one minute's walk away. It's the place where G Bush stayed when he ...

Re: How bout the USA?
This question, and variants thereon, have been asked so many times already. None of us knows the answer. You will just have to wait and see like everyone else.agnes70 wrote:any idea when a potential US Tour dates will be announced? Maybe in the Fall?

Brighton is been and gone and sold out.
There may be some second shows announced in some cities (e.g. Vienna). Watch this space!
