Re: Leonard to play in Sligo!!

That little red ball bobbing up and down annoys me far more than anything ever written here.
The wasp bobbing up and down is not much better! What sunset, it will be thick with mist and rain on 31 July/1 August. Now if Leonard were to play on the Mizen or Beara we could guarantee sunshine.

Re: Leonard to play in Sligo!!

I am all for common sense, surely we can all live with a bit of banter and dare I say, mischievousness, ó am go h'am. One thread fits all, says I, it is easy to skim over the bits that are not relevant. That little red ball bobbing up and down annoys me far more than anything ever written here. :D

Re: Leonard Cohen by Michael Ondaatje

I found a copy of this book in a 'brocante' – second hand store – in the middle of rural France some twelve years ago. I have Ondaatjes signature, he came to the Kilkenny Arts Festival in 1989 or 1990. The signature is on a book of his poetry, The Cinnamon Peeler though, not the LC book. I have read...

Re: Songs you would like to hear in the World Tour 2010

Villanelle For Our Time, even though the words are not by Leonard but another Canadian poet, Frank Scott, is very special too. From bitter searching of the heart, Quickened with passion and with pain We rise to play a greater part. This is the faith from which we start: Men shall know commonwealth a...

Re: Accommodation for Sligo

Heard of a private family home in Strandhill 4 miles from Sligo run by Cohen fans If the family are genuine Cohen fans then obviously they would not dream of profiteering from the fact that this is a rural location with accommodation scare enough at the best of times. Factor in that this is also wh...

I wouldn't mind to hear him recite

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
from The song of wandering Aengus

Maarten 2 twin beds (non smoking) Just to let visitors from abroad (who have not been to Ireland in the last few years) know that a smoking ban was introduced in 2007 and pertains to most public spaces. I paste below some details which may be of interest. Exceptions to the Irish Smoking Ban There a...

annmarie the "sally gardens"????????????? In my defence annmarie I would argue the case for my choice, given, as I have read elsewhere in this thread, people would happily go and listen to LC read a train timetable. The story goes that walking near the river at Ballisodare Yeats heard an ...

Re: Presale to Sligo

Ticketmaster have put up more tickets for Saturday Concert 31st July. BlockB. Looks like I am going to be stuck with my six Saturday tickets then. My mail has not been buzzing with interested parties and if there is another block of tickets on sale . . . A dedicated Sligo meetup thread is a good id...

Re: Presale to Sligo

Brandon Books in Dingle are publishing a nice guidebook in the next few weeks entitled Yeats and Sligo (author Kevin Connolly, ISBN 9780863224195) which I think would be a good one for visitors to Sligo, gael agus gall, to have a look at, especially if they are intent on a crash course in Yeats.
