Re: SHOW ME THE PLACE (free streaming of new song)

Such power, beauty, and depth in this song's deceptive simplicity. It communicates soul to soul.

Re: SHOW ME THE PLACE (free streaming of new song)

I am so moved by this song. Such a tenderness and a vulnerability to the performance. What a beautiful prayer. It resonates deep to my soul. Looking forward to the full album. Thank you Leonard. Thank you for continuing to bless us with your gifts.

Re: OLD IDEAS - THE NEW ALBUM

The title can be a triple entendre: 1) "Old ideas"=speaking of the age of the songs' author? 2) "Old ideas"=speaking of material that has been in his notebooks for quite a long time in one form or another? 3) "Old ideas"=speaking of ancient themes, for example from the Bible and Eastern wisdom tradi...

Recuperation is PERFECT for...

Recording the new album!

As long as Leonard is going to be at home, doing physical therapy, taking care of his back, no reason not to get the musicians together into the studio. And for the whole gang + Leonard to leisurely record the upcoming masterpiece during the six month hiatus!

My girlfriend and I are here in New York, watching this and cracking up. We love Cohen, we adore this song, and think your take on it is absolutely hilarious.

Excellent creativity, boys.

"Unbeautiful Winner:" A Truly Beautifully Written LC Piece

Here is a new beautiful piece written by music journalist Robert Christgau on L Cohen called "Unbeautiful Winner."

It's one of the best things I've read written on Cohen in a long time.

Re: Dylan is asked about seeing Cohen in concert...

After having read the complete Rolling Stone article, (and not just the excerpt about Dylan and Cohen), I don't think Dylan was being insulting to Leonard with what he said. Sure, he could have said what he said in a more diplomatic way. But I think what he was getting at is that he wouldn't go see ...

Re: Dylan is asked about seeing Cohen in concert...

I actually think they would be the perfect double bill. Cohen & Dylan, one night only in your town. Their styles, approaches, and music would complement each other beautifully. (Of course they would share the stage in an obligatory three-song duet in between their own sets). A dream bill for me!

Re: Find, sell or swap US/Can Tour tickets here

Hi everyone, I have 1 very good seat to the May 17th Radio City Show in New York for sale. I was going to go myself, but being I won't be there, I would like to sell it to a fellow fan within the LC forum community. It is Orchestra 3, Row A, seat 307 and I will be selling it for exactly what I paid ...

Dylan is asked about seeing Cohen in concert...

An excerpt from the new Rolling Stone interview of Bob Dylan: Do you get any time to sit in on concerts? Like would you go see someone like Leonard Cohen? Dylan: I know what Leonard does. I wouldn't need to go see him. I still go see plays. I go to the symphony because I'd be hearing threads and thi...

Wonderful Feature Piece on LC in Salon

New feature piece on Leonard Cohen in Salon. Clearly written from someone who is not only a good writer, but gets the music of LC on a deep level.

Does anyone know what was yelled out when Leonard chuckles and says, just before Anthem, "I heard that"?
Does anyone know the answer to this?, I'd really love to know too!
I think someone shouted out a request for "Don't Go Home with Your Hard-On." :)

Re: No love for The Stranger Song?

I did see him play Avalanche in Montreal last year though (which of course has a similar fingerpicking style and guitar feel). And if memory serves me well, he was solo on it. Either way, he still has the chops to pull it off. I for one would LOVE to see The Stranger Song make an appearance. It's on...

Re: "I forget to pray for the angels"...(A question about this)

Yopietro, Judaism recognizes angels, but doesn't encourage a praying to them (I don't believe it does), as direct access to God is the normative direction of prayer. Could be that L.C.was reflecting this with his lyric. Praying for angels, presumably beneficent ones, would be an expression of appre...
