Re: The Best Leonard Cohen Concert of all time.

I have been to three Leonard concerts this year - the opening night in Manchester in June (tuesday 17 June), Royal Albert Hall (tuesday 18 November) and Birmingham NEC (saturday 22 November). Plus I have been to many others over the years, won't say how many makes me feel old. The RAH and Birmingham...

3 versions of Hallelujah in British charts at once

On the BBC Website it says there are currently 3 versions of Hallelujah in British charts at once - Jeff Buckley's, X Factor winner Alexandra Burke's and Leonard's own. Shame Leonard won't get any royalties from any of these - I assume? Honeyrose "Hallelujah set for chart trinity Jeff Buckley's vers...

Hallelujah for X Factor Finalists - Who gets royalties?

According to my newspaper, "And the X Factor winner is . . . Leonard Cohen. The mordant songwriter is set for a £1 million windfall after his classic song Hallelujah was chosen as the debut single by tonight’s winner. The ITV1 show’s three finalists have each recorded their own version of the song, ...

Re: West Coast Tour??

Roscoe Beck, Leonard's musical director, also said, in an interview with Uncut magazine last month, that a US West Coast tour was in prospect for mid 2009. To follow the Australia/NZ (and Hawaii?) of early 2009. He said that as a result, he thought it unlikely they would get around to recording new ...

NZ Wellington Date sells out

Just came across this on the web 9http://www.thehive.co.nz/news/2008/leonard-cohen-sells-out BTW I see there is a support act on this tour - Sam Hunt - anyone know the reason for this? "Leonard Cohen Sells Out" "That’s right! Fans who have not yet bought their tickets are going to be very disappoint...

Who owns performing rights to Leonard's songs?

I wonder if anyone can clear up something which has been puzzling me. I always assumed his ex manager sold Leonard's songwriting and recording rights and royalties to Sony in the deals she did with them. But I assumed Leonard retained performing rights which is how he can now tour and sing his songs...

How loud is too loud?

Aside from the total excellence of the sound balance at all the Leonard concerts I have attended (probably best in Manchester but that is an opera house) - I must also comment on the volume. Nearly all the reviews have commented about how "quiet" the show was. My husband who dislikes loud noise didn...

Re: Birmingham NEC, 22 November 2008

Our seats at the Arena were fine, nice and spacious with room to stretch your legs and we had a good view, much better than the same location in the RAH or at the Opera House in Manchester. There are murmurs on the Arena website though about the revamp including more seating. I do hope that doesn't ...

Re: Birmingham NEC, 22 November 2008

I have to add my comments about the venue. We had never been to the Arena before and drove in off the M42 motorway and followed the NEC car park signs. We told the attendant there we were headed for the Arena and he told us the West car park (where we were) was as near as we would get unless we were...

I am glad to hear someone else say he either forgot or changed around the lyrics to the first verse of Everybody Knows. My husband disagrees, or says he did it on purpose. Anyone else notice?

Re: Birmingham NEC, 22 November 2008

We were at Birmingham last night - our third Leonard show this year - and it was another wonderful show. We had great "fan" seats (thanks Jarkko). The introduction of side screens with tv coverage is welcome but it does raise the question, if Leonard did not want to be filmed at Glasto because it im...

Re: NEC Concert 22 November 2008 Lift ?

is anyone driving up to the NEC from London tomorrow and back after the concert?. And has room for two? Our car has developed a dodgy clutch and might not make it. Would of course pay our share of petrol.

Re: The tour merchandise and collectibles; online shop soon

I was at the Royal Albert Hall last night and there was plenty of merchandise available but I think some of it is very over-priced. £20 for a canvas shopping bag printed with a picture of Leonard, £40 for what looked like a rather indifferent hoodie. Mmm. Would be interested to hear from anyone who ...

News Item about Oz tour

Just found this item about the Tour to Australia in 2009. Apologies if it has already been run elsewhere here - there is such a lot to read I am struggling to keep up. http://music.generationq.net/bm/tour/australia/Leonard-Cohen-Australian-and-NZ-Tour-291083.shtml Leonard Cohen Australian & NZ Tour ...
