Re: Third concert added to Oakland, with presale!

I agree I too have been worried about how gruelling all the touring must be, but I read an interview with Leonard recently where he sounded quite cheerful about it, "100 shows down, 100 to go, bring them on" or something to that effect. Clearly touring took its toll before but now he does seem to be...

Leonard talks on Youtube Vid about My Gypsy Wife

Some of you may already have seen this but there is a very interesting clip on Youtube where Leonard talks unusually frankly about how he came to write My Gypsy Wife and it also features photos of Susanne Eldrod and Adam and Lorca when they were children. Recommended. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Re: The promoter is scamming us

The fight back begins..... Following the row about secondary tickets and scalping at the Michael Jackson London concerts, also promoted by AEG, the promoter has accused its secondary market partner Viagogo of bulk releasing tickets which enabled the scalpers to move in. The company says it has now t...

Re: A sad day for Leonard

When Bruce Springsteen had the row with Ticketmaster, about his fans being scalped by concert tickets being shunted over to TicketsNow before general sale, he made it clear he had no part in creaming off any extra revenue from fans and expected the tickets to his concerts to be sold on Ticketmaster ...

Re: The promoter is scamming us

According to the press here in London, AEG who are promoting Leonard's tour, and the new Michael Jackson shows at 02, are scalping the tickets for the Jackson concert, via secondary market operator viagogo. "AEG Live, the company behind the concerts, has agreed with Viagogo, an online ticket reselle...

Re: new york daily news tries to expose ticketmaster for RCMH

This line is interesting: "Lopez (TM) insisted the pricey ducats on TicketExchange are kosher because he said they were not originally offered for sale at a lower value." So who hived off a large number of tix for sale at the higher price? the promoter, the artist's management, the theatre? Meanwhil...

Re: Ticketmaster, the depth of the greed

See my later post on same subject. If Ticketmaster really was redirecting all buyers direct to a secondary subsidiary, this has actually been outlawed since end of February, following the Bruce Springsteen row, when they were fined $350,00, had to reimburse 2000 fans and promised not to do this in f...

Re: Leonard Cohen and Ticketmaster

Just to add, there are now four class actions being brought against Ticketmaster in Canada - where ticket scalping is illegal in most states. Also following the row with Bruce Springsteen over TM shunting buyers for his tour to TicketsNow their secondary market site, this news item appeared on FoxNe...

Re: Leonard Cohen and Ticketmaster

I think people are confusing a number of issues here. For a popular artists tour there will always be a off market demand for tickets from those organisations offering a special deal to their members - like Amex etc - on concert tix. These third parties need their own allocation which takes some tic...

Leonard back in the UK this summer?

Have I missed something? A friend has just emailed to say Leonard is coming back to the UK in June, 4 dates in Manchester and the O2 again. Tickets go on sale on 14th March.
Have they got it wrong?

Interview with Promoter Rob Hallett and possible 2009 dates

Not sure if this has been reported elsewhere, (I expect Jarkko will move it if it has) but there is a very interesting article with quotes from Leonard's tour promoter Rob Hallett of AEG about the 2008 tours, in the January issue of Rock's Back Pages, reproduced here. You will see at the end there i...

Re: Leonard Cohen in Billboard's List of Top 25 Tours for 2008

Buying back his rights might be expensive for Leonard since Halleljuah has just gone to Nos 1 and 2 in the UK charts. i saw a quote from Sony the other day saying it was charging a much higher fee for recording rights to the X factor winner (I think that is what it was) because it was a Leonard Cohe...

Re: Campaign: Get Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah in the UK charts!

So which mp3 downloads get to count toward the sales charts? is it only certain ones? the play.com site doesn't offer Leonard's version as an option on the front page, only Alexandra's, you have to go searching for it. I may be the only person in the UK to think this way, but I don't much care for A...

Re: New Live Album & DVD

Can I echo the requests for Famous Blue Raincoat, The Partisan, Avalanche, Chelsea Hotel, Waiting for the Miracle? which were in the Fall tour. These are some of his best and most memorable songs and it would really enhance the DVD if room could be found for them.
