Re: Fire On The Mountain

I know a very different tune called Fire on the Mountain (I might know a few by that name), and when I saw you pickin' yer banjer, I thought it'd be one of them. But I was not disappointed, for your rendition of the song (whose origin I know not, and perhaps is as old as the various fiddle tunes?) i...

Re: "nancy was alone"? - tell me about it

Is this a game for anyone to play? Nancy was alone. She closed her phone and let it slide into the pocket of her black trousers. Slowmo people jingled in the city sunshine like silver coins in the wake of the train that had just hit her. She looked up and tried to make eye contact with just one othe...

Re: Autumn leaves

You've got some nice lines in here, but there are some things I question. Are you up for workshopping? Starting with " Trees wither and die ," gives me the idea that the trees are already done - unable to do all that stuff in the rest of the poem. I like "wrinkled" for the leaves, but bleeding seems...

Re: Flower

It's rare for me to come back to a poem after more than a year and not hate it. This one's not bad, eh? Did everyone know at the time that it was about ~Greg? I wonder if I will write more like this one. I don't know if I would have thought to call it a sonnet, but in these modern times I've seen th...

When you make apple pie, how many artichokes do you add?
I assume, of course, that you fry it in a swimming pool.

Re: I pray to genetics

This monster is not lying. If I say, "I am such a jerk," does that mean I'm not a jerk, simply because I recognize my jerkness? The first line of the poem does this. I would only advise to replace this "I do not bring bouquets to the suffering" (it's a bit explanatory) with modification to tell the ...

Re: the prostitute clams have gone missing

You said, "Love is touching souls." Surely you touch mine 'cause part of you pours out of me in these lines from time to time. There's no phrasing like Joni's phrasing. I haven't been here in for-like-ever. I haven't even lurked. But today I guess I felt like it again. I like your poem, Cate. And I...

Re: my world-your world

Unless you really are a suicidal cutter, the first stanza is over-dramatic. But the second stanza is really good. Well, most of it is. this: your world is stupid and warm white skin and I know for certain that you will look death straight into her eyes full of love and boring details Of course, I re...

Dear Leonard, Congratulations on completing an official super-majority of years of a century in this interactive realm. Three quarters, woohoo! Often when September comes, I remember hearing you say in an interview that you once considered changing your name to September. I like that, but I am glad ...

Hi Cate. A Spirograph is a toy thingy that has gears with holes in them. You can put a gear into a bigger thing that is either circular or elliptical and then put a pen in the hole. And if you trace around and around, you can make an image like this one: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3444/381285187...

Flower

Flower Spirographic petals are most efficiently described by a structured series of equations - a chandelier of Xs and symbols replotted on a matrix to return the predicted curls. Pollen hangs from the erect integral: sperm on the tip of a flower's penis craning from the origin into Z axis. The ste...

Re: mathish poem in case Greg wanders by

while the electrons around oxygen make it sort of tetrahedral, a carbon would be a more directly tetrahedral atom. In its happiest state, Carbon makes four bonds that reach from it to the points of a tetrahedron. Water has only 2 bonds, and while they also point to the corners of a tetrahedron, the ...

Sorry, but I stopped reading at "gates of destiny." You mention humour. Maybe I should try again with humour in mind.
