Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

Thanks, Joe, for your consideration and for your thoughts on the third song, “On The Level”; you presented it so aptly that I don’t have that much to add. As you said, this is a lighter song, relating to an old love, following two “heavier” ones on the struggles of faith (mainly). There are only a f...

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

Joe, thanks for your further thoughts on “Treaty”. It is no doubt a kind of dialogue, but not a friendly one (an argument, as you say). The need for a treaty indicates a state of belligerence; however, a treaty cannot be reached: “I wish there was…”. It may be possible to read the line “Only one of ...

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

I’ll try to convey some of my thoughts regarding the second song, “Treaty”. The music for it was written by LC himself (unlike the first song, credited to Patrick Leonard), and as already noted by some people before, the melody somewhat resembles “Anthem”, although the lyrics are dissimilar. My impr...

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

Thank you Maarten and Joe for your kind words. Joe, I wonder if it is really necessary to start a new thread; my feeling is that although many people are captivated by the album, it might prove difficult to revive the spirit of the extensive discussion we had back then. The Forum has changed a lot i...

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

I feel obliged to contribute to the discussion of the new album, although it would have been better perhaps to take some more time to reflect on it. I thought I’d comment on the whole album at once, but it seems there is so much to say, so like Joe did - and I really admire his take on the concept o...

Re: The Darker Album and the Songs

Way to go, Joe, and please keep them coming. I may also post something later on, but meanwhile just listening over and over again; it’s one helluva record.

Re: Thank you, Amsterdam 2016.

We had a great time in Amsterdam. Thanks so much to the organizers for their hard work. On top of the pleasure of meeting many old friends and getting to know some new ones, there were many memorable moments on the program; for me the three highlights were hearing Sharon Robinson singing so beautifu...

Thank you very much, Cate & John.

To LY24:
I have no knowledge about book publishing in China so I can't really give you any good advice. My only idea would be to try different publishers until you find one who is willing to publish the book. Good luck.

TO LY24:
I'm glad to hear you translated LC's first poetry book into Chinese, but I'm not sure I understand your question; whom did you try to contact?

Re: "Book of Mercy" in Hebrew - translated by Doron

Thanks to Jarkko for posting the front and back covers of my Hebrew translation of Book of Mercy . I’m glad the book is finally published, after long and painful delays; the manuscript was ready two years ago, but I ended up having to change publisher because of disagreement over the editing of the ...

Re: Sadly, Judith Fitzgerald Has Passed Away

I got to know Judith Fitzgerald (BoHo) through the Book of Mercy discussion I initiated on the Forum back in 2006 (and which went on for over three years). I was intrigued by her unique point of view and inimitable use of language, and felt thrilled and honored by her participation. Was it fortunate...

I'm shocked and saddened by this news. She was special and unique. I hope to write more later.
