Re: Leonard Cohen Walking Weekend, or Isn't It A Long Way Down?

Friday 11th: Queen tribute band - couldn't tell me any details about this band - I shall be in a quandary about whether to go see this:-) Could be good fun, Diane. The last Freddie Mercury wannabe we saw, at one of our local pubs that is trying to get a name for itself as a Venue, was absolutely aw...

Re: Leonard Cohen Walking Weekend, or Isn't It A Long Way Down?

For our non-walkers I knew there was a nice panoramic walk somewhere above Barmouth town itself so I googled it and found that there are a number of places to visit in and around the town (see below) And if after you have exhausted these options you can always join me at sometime during the weekend...

Re: Leonard Cohen Walking Weekend, or Isn't It A Long Way Down?

We are at the Marwyn too, so will see you there, Paula and Judith. We were offered a nice double with a sea view, but not the four-poster, and there are a couple of floors above us, so shouldn't need the brollies :). John will be joining the walkers, but I will be conducting a research project among...

Re: A Very Special Announcement Coming

What a wonderful treat for those able to get to New York. Unfortunately, after four concerts last year, I simply do not have that kind of money to throw around this year. :(

Re: A Very Special Announcement Coming

FIFTEEN Pages of messages in 4 days about something none of us (except, perhaps, Jarkko) knows anything about. Hysteria perhaps? When did not knowing what they were talking about ever stop people, Red Poppy? :) If it's a concert just for fans and the press, perhaps it's a special live recording? Or...

Re: A Very Special Announcement Coming

The fact that this announcement is being made at a very specific time leads me to think that it's not something that Jarkko or Leonard have control over. So, if it's down to a third party, my guess is that Sony is going to hand back to Leonard all the rights to his back catalogue that they got from ...

I also had no problems downloading the group picture. I wonder if Life Magazine knows what a treasure it has there. Thanks, Jazz :)

Re: Happy Holidays - from Leonard

Thanks for the beautiful picture, Leonard, and for the many ways your music and events around it have enriched my life for so many years, but most particularly this year. I wish you and our dear webmaster Jarkko and his family and all my friends on the board happy holidays, whatever it is that you a...

Re: Hydra Meetup 2009

What beautiful photos! I am filled with nostalgia for the warmth of the weather and the people and the utter peacefulness of the island. I have to get back there, somehow!

Re: Cardiff 8 November

Yess!! Last night I finally got to hear Leonard sing Famous Blue Raincoat live! He sang quite a few others, too, including The Partisan, but it was Famous Blue Raincoat I was waiting for. I was in tears through most of it, along with the couple in front of me and the guy sitting to my right. Anthem ...

Re: 'Democracy is Coming to the U.S.A.' A post Election Tribute

Democracy got a huge cheer at the concert in Cardiff last night, every time the line 'Democracy is coming to the USA' came around. The bank obviously got a huge buzz from it as there were big grins all round.

Re: All the SETLISTS (Summer 2008 Tour)

You do have to register with them, Ken, and also with the Leonard Cohen Artwork Group, but it's well worth it. What a treasure trove of professional-looking artwork! You must have spent hours on it. I wish I had discovered this years ago. Thank you for your generosity in sharing it with us.

Re: Difference between Sommer- and Fall-Tour?

I read an interview recently, though I can't remember in which thread I saw the link now, where Leonard said he was hoping to spend August and September rehearsing new songs for the Autumn tour, including some previously unrecorded songs. I have also heard a rumour that there will be a violinist in ...
