Re: CONCERT REPORT: Weybridge, July 11

Once more, thanks to Leonard for a wonderful concert. The atmosphere in the second half was really great and the band as perfect as ever. We seem to have had a slightly better experience of the venue than some, apart from the chaos at the end. But then, if you are among the first in you expect to be...

Re: Weybridge Meet Up

That looks like a much better weather report, Paula. I think we should book that one :). I had forgotten about Concorde. I would quite like to see that myself. I'm also more inclined to hang around the site once we get there, so will probably see you in the cafe at 4 if we don't bump into each other...

Re: Weybridge Meet Up

Do we know whether the Hand and Spear does food? We will be driving across and hoping to arrive around 2 pm when the car park opens, so would probably prefer to meet up somewhere on site providing there is shelter from the weather. The BBC weather site is predicting heavy rain in Weybridge on Saturd...

Re: Weybridge Meet Up

I thought I read somewhere that it was not allowed to take food or drink of any kind into the event. Or was it just into the arena?

My tickets arrived today by normal post. Has a meetup been planned for this concert?

The cat one was specially for you, Lizzie. Sue and I thought about you and your waifs and strays of four years ago every time we saw a cat, so you can imagine you were on our minds quite a lot :)

Re: MEET-UP 2009 REPORT

Welcome back to the frozen north, Jarkko :). We have 16 degrees C in Gloucester today, and rain. We left Hydra just after lunch on Monday and arrived back in Gloucester at about 4 am the following morning. Having staggered into work during the day we then went to a folk gig in the bar of our local t...

Re: Weybridge

You can't turn your back on this site for even a couple of days, can you! I just found out about the concert and the presale at the same time, and got seats in block A3 row V, which I suppose is not bad considering. I was late out of the blocks for the presale to Liverpool too, and was offered row Z...

Re: A Request for Mr. Cohen

Just for the record, the following tracks on the Philip Glass CD make use of Leonard's spoken word, and as far as I remember that is as it was at the live performance at the Barbican. Disc 1 1. I Can't Make the Hills 4. Want to Fly 8. You go Your Way 10. Not a Jew 13. I Enjoyed the Laughter Disc 2 3...

Re: Leonard Cohen wins Meteor Award

The reason Leonard's performance was not broadcast could be more to do with his legal position vis a vis Sony. His performance at Glastonbury was not broadcast by the BBC either, though many of us expected it to be. The reason given was that it was 'not available for broadcast' and this apparently m...

Re: Hydra Meetup 2009

Linda - the German Franz crew (7 persons) also arrives on Wednesday. Maybe we are on the same boat around noon (2 p.m) I thought Hydriot was a bit unclear with his heaven statement. Either it doesn't exit or it is private. If Heaven is private I wouldn't dare to ask to be letting in. We will be lan...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Welcome to all you new people, whether you are new to Leonard's work or whether you only just got around to posting here about it. I love the way this tour is bringing so many more of us together, whether here on the board or at the concerts. I had been in love with Leonard's songs for more years th...

Re: Coffee and candour with Cohen / Globe and Mail

He was their cantor, offering supplications in search of redemption. I particularly like this expression. It sums up for me what I feel is going on between Leonard and the audience at a concert, and gives a respectful nod towards the 'cohen' part of Leonard's cultural inheritance. I understand that...

Re: Hydra Meetup 2009

We shall be arriving on Wednesday 10th and leaving the following Monday. We will be staying at Pension Erofili, about a minute's walk from the harbour if you take it really slowly. Irini, who runs it, does the most amazing breakfasts, including eggs freshly laid by her own hens. Last time we were th...

Re: Leonard Cohen Walking Weekend, or Isn't It A Long Way Down?

Linda It looks Barmouth is more like Hydra than we first thought....here is the sea temperature chart and it looks like we can bring our cossies (bathing costumes for those that speak proper like) My cossie is only allowed one outing a year, Ken. It's going to be difficult to choose between Hydra a...
