Re: PRESALE TO THE WEMBLEY ARENA

Well I certainly didn't get like for like. I originally had tickets for row B and have ended up on row 18 of block B at Wembley, which is about 40 rows back.

Re: Goodbye, Dolores

I have only just found this thread. John and I are deeply saddened to hear that Dolores has passed away, but it was so good that Henning and Willy and Wijbe were able to be at her memorial and take all our love and condolences to her family. I have just been watching Wijbe's montage of pictures, and...

Re: Ten years, 271520 posts and MANY THANKS to JARKKO

Thank you Jarkko, Eija and Rauli for all your hard work over the last 10 years. This is without question the best Cohen site on the web, and provides a home for so many of us who would otherwise feel isolated in our love for Leonard and his work.

Re: HOP FARM MEET up

Just bringing this back to the top, as it's not long to go now. I actually emailed the venue asking for the start time of the show as opposed to gate opening time, and asked if they could recommend anywhere for us to meet up. I have not even had an acknowledgement, let alone a useful reply!

Re: HOP FARM (UK), 8 SEPT ON PRESALE NOW

I got my tickets this morning. Block A4 row B. I was so pleased! I had been hoping for a UK concert as I can only afford to go to one concert on this tour since I stopped working. Now I'm worried that it will not take place! At least I paid for my tickets by credit card, so will be protected.

Re: HOP FARM MEET up

Definitely interested, Simon. We have our tickets. If the gates open at 3 pm, maybe best to organise a meeting point inside the grounds? Or were you thinking of somewhere for lunch?

Re: Jennifer Warnes UK Tour

Thanks for that, Wendy. That explains why there was nothing listed on the Shepherds Bush Empire site. I hope the tour does go ahead at a later date. I would love to see Jennifer Warnes live, and Huntingdon Hall is one of our favourite venues.

Jennifer Warnes UK Tour

I have just discovered that Jennifer Warnes will be appearing at Huntingdon Hall, Worcester on Saturday 21st April. According to the accompanying details, she will be playing five concerts in the UK, including Shepherds Bush Empire in London, but I can find no details online of the rest of the tour....

Re: Had to go Crazy to Love You

I quite agree, Lisa, Leonard's version is sublime. I couldn't work out what the songs on Blue Alert were missing. Now I know. It was Leonard :)

Had to go Crazy to Love You

This is an object lesson to Anjani on exactly what Leonard meant when he said to her not to perform the song, but to be that person. When I first heard this song on Blue Alert I didn't think it was particularly strong. To be honest, I didn't think any of them were, though the album was much better t...

Re: Old Ideas - Memorable lines

'A lazy bastard living in a suit'. I suspect that this will become the classic quote from this album. 'A manual for living with defeat'. The neatest one-liner I have ever seen to describe Leonard's work - all of it! 'I know you have to hate me, but could you hate me less'. This had me laughing throu...

One of Those Leonard Cohen Moments

This actually happened last year, but I never got around to sharing it then so thought I would now. I was at a concert by a group called St Agnes Fountain, whose members pursue solo careers during the rest of the year but in December they get together to perform Christmas music both traditional and ...

Thanks for the lovely ice sculpture, Eija. I look forward to these every year. I would like to wish everyone here a happy and peaceful holiday period, whatever it is that you are celebrating, and a healthy and prosperous new year. Re: Leonard Cohen Elected to American Academy of Arts & Scie

It's good to see Leonard finally getting the recognition he has so richly deserved for so long, despite the feeling I can't help getting that there is a slight 'bandwagon' element to some of it. Whatever the reason, congratulations Leonard. History will not remember the bandwagon, only the just dess...

Re: Leonard Cohen and "Hallelujuh" Cover at 'Hope for Haiti Now'

I didn't like this cover at all. They were singing the song, not feeling it. And they got THAT line wrong! It is NOT 'how to shoot somebody that outdrew you'! grrrr!!
