Re: "Bird on a wire" (the Tony Palmer film) coming on DVD

Hi sirius, It must have been wonderful to be at those concerts - lucky you. One of the last songs he sang at the Belle Vue concert 38 years ago was that old chestnut "As Time Goes By" I have to ask the question. Do you think that when Leonard sang "As Time Goes By" then that it is the same recorded ...

Re: Fly cover picture from "So Long Marianne"

Thank you Jazz4111, Wonderful picture - so long ago - free and happy. The world was a different place then. That photo takes me back. I did live on an island for 3 years in the late sixties, early seventies and had limited contact with the outside world so I know the freedom (and isolation) it can b...

Re: For ladies who exercise

Well, Mollydog   His selection, which ranges from Nat King Cole to Leonard Cohen, is far more refined: “This you can make out the words and the words were sweat over.” Don't worry this still applies to "Ladies Who Exercise" ;-) and add another one to the list for lightasabreeze - and Coh...

Always an entertaining read - thankyou to all participants for the story.

I swear that Hank has Leonard's green eyes........or is it the other way around  ;-)
Maybe that's how they connected and the message got through

Re: A Thousand Kisses Deep

Just to add fuel to the fire here is another verse of A Thousand Kisses Deep - From The New York Times, October 11, 1995 A Thousand Kisses Deep: (Leonard Cohen is reciting a new poem that may become a song someday *) "I've been working on this lyric for about a year now," he says. "I wanted it to ha...

Hi LEONKA, I know you are having a conversation with mutti but I just have to say I and a lot of other forum members love your posts. You are so passionate about Leonard - you unashamedly wear your heart on your sleeve and I love that ;-) Don't worry about how you write - just keep on doing it as yo...

Re: New songs for 2010 tour

Well, the top three requested songs at the moment are:

"Avalanche" and "Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye"
which are tied for first place
and
"One Of Us Cannot Be Wrong"
is in third place

It would seem from Arlene's set list that there is some chance they will actually be sung :)

Re: New songs for 2010 tour

Hi LEONKA,

If you go to the song index section (left hand side) of The Leonard Cohen Files you will see ALL of Leonard's songs listed there. You will be besides yourself ;-)

Happy Days :)

Re: A Thousand Kisses Deep

Hi remote1, The following is a quote by Leonard about his thoughts on A Thousand Kisses Deep: A Thousand Kisses Deep (Ten New Songs) "We don't write the play, we don't produce it, we don't direct it and we're not even actors in it... Everybody eventually comes to the conclusion that things are not u...

Thank you so much,

I absolutely loved this rather swinging version of the "broken" Hallelujah :D
Would have loved to see the visual but never mind - a wonderful rendition :)
