Re: Cohen's Father's war record?

WOW!!!!!!! This thread is so cool! NICE old pictures of Cohen's father and seeing his actual military record tops it all off. I LOVE this stuff.....being a history/geneology nut......thanks for sharing everybody. And on a side note: I take it it's ok to MENTION Bob Dylan on this forum....as ...

I've been under a rock lately (actually sick)....and missed a lot. By the way, Mr. Cohen is great for soothing the sick.....even if you have a headache that lasts for 4 days straight..... Re: Halleljuh Again and Again

I'm divided on this whole "Should other people sing this song" thing. On the one hand, NOBODY will ever sing it like Cohen, but on the other hand GOD BLESS these younger people for discovering LC and WANTING to sing it! I "introduced" LC to two 20-somethings here at work and they are HUGE fans now. ...

Re: Leonard for Canada

Oh man, if he comes back to Montreal...I'm driving up there...AGAIN......wonder what they'll say when I cross the border this time? "Ma'am, we just can't believe you've driven all the way up from Kentucky AGAIN! Step out of your car please!"

Re: Halleljuh Again and Again

Thanks Dick for the info, This is a quote from the text in the Australian - "We worried about including Hallelujah," said Mensch, "because it's been covered by everyone. But no one has sung it like she does: and when you hear the words, you realise it's a song about a sex fiend! Maybe that's why th...

Re: Leonard Cohen's childhood home is for sale

HolyDove: I wasn't wearing my bracelet...I'll know better next time ;-) You know, that Galerie TD had the most serene feel to it. We had just come in from St.Catherine at noon, so you can imagine the crowd of people rushing to lunch, etc. They had Cohen's music playing softly, and there were only a ...

Re: You May Be A Leonard Cohen Fan If …

Concerning the bumper sticker....I got this thing several months ago...the seller is still up on ebay. I typed in 'Warning Driver Under the Influence of bumper sticker' and they have one for about every band out there. Didn't see Leonard Cohen this time around, though, maybe it's sporadic. Seems to ...

Re: Leonard Cohen's childhood home is for sale

HolyDove, PLEASE post your pics as soon as you can! I wish we had had as many days as you did in Montreal! It's okay, though, we plan on going back....we did get to the childhood home, McGill University (yes-the buildings are amazing) and the exhibit was great....I stood in front of the ORIGINALS th...

Re: You May Be A Leonard Cohen Fan If …

It's not a license plate, it's a bumper sticker, and I got it off ebay, from the Ukraine no less, and yes, I totally forgot about it being on the back bumper as we were going through customs. The people in Montreal were most likely amused. I didn't move fast enough at one point, when the light turne...

Re: You May Be A Leonard Cohen Fan If …

Apparently when you turn forty, the first thing to go is your memory...I failed to mention that I traveled across the border with THIS bumper sticker on my car! Wouldn't THIS give some credibility to my story to the border guard about attending the LC exhibit in Montreal?????????? http://i578.photob...

Re: Leonard's Voice

'deer musk' ...???? True, maybe just 'musk' would've sounded better....but nevertheless...the voice IS musky. And to lightasabreeze.... ..yes, that voice DOES caress you....ohhhh does it ever. I've also noticed that if Leonard Cohen is played at a higher volume, as in, his older, deeper voic...

Re: You May Be A Leonard Cohen Fan If …

Surely, grist for the Hollywood mill! ---Arlene[/quote] Yep, and if Hollywood DID do this story, they would do it in "The Beverly Hillbillies" style...as in us hayseeds traveling North to see Mr. Cohen's draw-in's (we heard he could draw real good...) Actually, when we got held at the border, what t...
