Yeah, there is obviously some sort of preference given the artists. I get the impression that the Wainwrights are close with Lorca, so perhaps they're practically family. I wonder if it was mostly Lian who came up with this hierarchy. I always thought Nick was the biggest of the stars. At the LA Fil...

I bought the album off of iTunes. I miss the liner notes, and the physical experience of the purchase. but in any case. It was $10, and Walmart didn't have the Soundtrack (that was coin flip; I went to Walmart for a 1/4 ratchet wrench, carburator cleaner, and LCIYM soundtrack) Funny, the only other ...

Yeah, I feel ashamed that this came out of the place where I currently reside. Sarah was bad enough, but the Beth Orton Suzanne mix up made me want to stab my eyes with pencils. It's a bad habit of mine, I suppose. And Alleluia? Anyways. I saw the movie again on Saturday! I'd just like to say that B...

This was an awful article, in terms of accuracy. But Antony is a real revelation, his tremulous falsetto elevating Cohen's If It Be Your Will to new heights even if the deadpan wit of Death of a Ladies' Man seems to elude Cocker and Orton. Yeah. I Can't Forget and Sisters of Mercy sure weren't on th...

I agree with the others, a wonderful work. And it makes me miss that time where we used to use stamps.

Hi Bernard,

I wrote them with the intention of making them lyrics. The problem is after much training as a classical pianist, my musical creativity is squashed! I will attempt it. Hopefully, some day I'll be happy with the result :)

Huh. I've learnt the hard way to assume that everyone I talk to over the Internet is male, until given irrefutable proof. :) Thank you for your kind words. Those "again"s keep popping in there, even though, I often try to take one or both out. Strange. But obviously they bug me, and it's helpful to ...

One of those days when the hat doesn't help

I didn't think we'd be here again, But it feels like it's time to say goodbye. One year since we found each other again, But we don't make it work, you know we tried. You say all I want is fortune and glory, To suit my selfish needs. You almost had me believing that, Til I wasn't what I needed to be...

Ah! Ok, so I remember coming across the pic of Leonard in shorts before this post, and couldn't remember exactly where. It turns out, it's in our very own Leonard Cohen Files! The whole story is there.

Ah, no problem! I'm looking forward to hearing more feedback on Nightingale. It's hard to notice the first time through, but there are at least two Anjani's and two Leonard's singing. It's easy to focus on Leonard singing in the bass range, because that's where we often look for him, but yep, there ...

I agree, the video gave me goosebumps. However, I think the fact that Leonard didn't "barely get it above a whisper" does not mean that he couldn't. It was a musical choice. Also, listen to Nightingale really carefully, and you can hear him traversing all over his entire range. One reason for this i...

What the? Who the?! This was at the Montreal Jazz fest? Wow.

Dude, I'm sorry, but I'm very amused that you were away having your bachelor party in Ontario, at the time. Something about pursuing the flesh, and missing out on the orator of flesh. Still, suddenly I miss my homeland.

Ah, what a brilliant interview! One of my favourite. I was only slightly annoyed by: I’m Your Man finds Cohen in a rather dark, fatalistic frame of mind, talking about the “vale of tears,” about being born “alive in the horror,” and about how we live without recognizing that “we’ve already been kill...

Great stuff. I thought they'd mention Perla and Julie, or the fact that Martha has an album as well, it was what it was.
