Re: The Leonard/Janis thread

If you're really interested, read this:
http://pagesperso-orange.fr/pilgraeme/chelsea_hotel.htm

It's long and it repeats itself, but it tells the whole story, basically. The Wiesbaden speech is priceless (doesn't say much about the song, though).

Re: The Leonard Cohen Tour #1 in Israel web survey

That's great to hear. BTW, now there are talks of a Coldplay concert around here... and there's also indie acts like MGMT. Busy summer, concert-wise.

Re: Why no changes to the set list?

Well, we got changes in Weybridge, with Hearth with No Companion & Democracy replacing Chelsea Hotel and Waiting for the Miracle which were good to hear. BUT NO AVALANCHE!!! Did they actually drop Chelsea Hotel? It seems to be way too famous to disappear. But, as long as Famous Blue Raincoat stays ...

Re: Leonard Cohen concert in Ramallah

I'm really not sure if this concert will work... Imagine him singing "Hallelujah" over there, including verses speaking of David and all... not sure if they'll love it. I'm not even sure there is enough crowd in there who appreciate Cohen's work and all...

Re: Leonard Cohen to perform in West Bank as well as Israel

I'm kinda surprised he did it before Roger Waters :-). Anyway, I'm Israeli and I don't have any problem with that. As long as it's safe and there are people over there who appreciate his work, then it's alright for him to play there. I just hope nothing goes wrong over there... you know, him being a...

Re: "Greatest Hits" to be re-released

Take This Longing is too awesome to drop.

Also, why did they leave Tower of Song out? I always thought it's his career-summarizing song. Should be there.

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Philadelphia, May 12

That setlist is very different from the usual... no Gypsy's Wife, Sisters of Mercy returns, Take This Waltz replaced as a set closer with Democracy.

Re: TEL AVIV CONCERT CONFIRMED

I heard the producers are negotiating with Bank Discount... which is likely to be the sponser. We'll just have to wait and see.

Jesus verse in "Suzanne"

I read many stories about who and what Suzanne was written about, but I don't remember anyone ever mentioning the second verse: "Jesus was a sailor...". I think it's a very mysterious and beautiful verse and I wondered what it is about and why it is placed in the middle of Suzanne... how it is conne...

Re: Please post setlists of the North America tour here!!!

Calgary April 26, 2009 25. Closing Time You sure you don't confuse Closing Time with Democracy? It is reported here: http://www.leonardcohenforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=14588&st=0&sk=t&sd=a that Democracy was also played. and I think someone in this thread said he left Closing Time out. It's a mo...

Dream Setlist for Europe

I made my dream setlist for this tour... There's a lot of early tracks because I like them better then the later ones. It's similar in structure to the actual setlists he play... I had to drop some really good tracks, but I love this set, especially the second encore. I'm afraid the second set might...
