Re: LC 2011

I guess we will have many opportunities to see a lot of "Last concerts" :D   mirka I am flying out from Massachusetts to see his December 11th show, specifically because I am concerned it may be his last show ever - at least as far as a world tour is concerned. I can't imagine that Mr....

Re: Ticketing info for the last concerts in December

December can't come fast enough... I will be boarding a plane in Connecticut to travel to Las Vegas to see Mr. Cohen conclude his two year world tour. I am so honored.

If anyone could point me to this interview, I would love to read/listen to it.

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Waterbury, May 14

One thing I forgot to add, that I found refreshing: This must have been the first concert I've ever been to that I wasn't frisked, asked to empty out my pockets and generally probed before being granted entry to the venue. Also, major points for the vendors selling Doritos inside the theater. It was...

CONCERT REPORT: Waterbury, May 14

Well, I just experienced my first Leonard Cohen concert last night. The show started just after 8pm and the set list appears to be identical to Philadelphia's. Unfortunately, I write this with some sorrow as my experience wasn't as great as I thought it would have been. The sound was the worst that ...

Re: Duet with Cyndi Lauper?

After I saw her destroy a wonderful song during Roger Waters Live in Berlin concert in 1990. I would prefer that she stay away from Mr. Cohen's music as well. Having said that, I am actually a fan of Cyndi Lauper. But they don't belong on the same plate.

Re: Ballad of the Absent Mare

To say I am fascinated by this song would be a gross understatement. I could lie on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere for the rest of my days and be content as long as I was afforded the company of this song. I have searched high and low, far and wide for a live recording of this song. Does...

Re: Whats your favourite Leonard Cohen's song?

I've been a fan of Leonard Cohen's work for approximately 15 years or so. The subject of "favorite album or song" is always a tricky topic. Having said that, from June 08 until December 25th of 08, I suffered with a dying liver which kept me in the hospital for about 90% of those days. Thank god for...

Re: Last year`s man

http://www.songmeanings.net/ I post this URL with hesitation, as I have read some rather bizarre, infantile and insane interpretations of songs. Not necessarily Leonard Cohen songs, but nonetheless....I think it may have to do with being a website directed towards the masses unlike this site that is...

Re: RECENT SONGS ALBUM

What a fantastic post! I too an often baffled by the lack of recognition for this great album. I think it would be safe to say that I listen to at least one or two tracks of this album every week while I listen to music on my BlackBerry...Absolutely brilliant writing on this album. I will never forg...

Re: Ambiguous Hallelujahs

Leonard Cohen: Ambiguous Hallelujahs By Benjamin Ivry Published February 18, 2009. Can a truly great poet be as professionally imprecise as Cohen is? Take one of his best-loved songs, “Bird on the Wire,”: “Like a bird on the wire/like a drunk in a midnight choir/I have tried, in my way, to be free....

Re: Which is your favorite Leonard Cohen period?

As many others have stated, this is an extremely difficult decision to make. From my experience, The Future was my first exposure to Leonard Cohen. Whether I had heard any of his music before, I do not know. What I do know is: seeing the movie Natural Born Killers and hearing his hauntingly beautifu...

Re: No Leonard songs in the Guardian's Sex List!

This is a perfect example of why I loathe "lists". Unless the "list" is crafted and debated by SEVERAL people, they usually turn out to be utter nonsense.

Re: A short history of "Hallelujah" - lyrics, versions, oddities

From a wikipedia entry: "Hallelujah" was originally written and composed over the course of a year, and is said to have been a frustrating and difficult process for Cohen.[2] Cohen says he wrote at least eighty verses, filling two notebooks - discarding most of the verses in the process of crafting ...
