Re: PRESALES TO BOSTON and AUSTIN

Sadly, I did not take part in any pre-concert meetups for the two shows I attended during the last World Tour. If people are planning on doing a meetup before the Boston show, I would be more than happy to take part this time. I will keep my eyes open on the forum.

Re: Austin City Limits 1988 (Entire TV Broadcast)

kkjohns, I'm so sorry, but I can not upload the show in a higher quality. Unfortunately, MY copy is digital and the same resolution that you see on YouTube. If I had a higher resolution source, I would have uploaded that to YouTube instead. I hope you can still enjoy the recording...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Amsterdam, Aug 21 & 22

Has anyone else noticed the professional recording that is occurring during the song "Amen". You can clearly see it in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvzaKZCVl6I I'd like to believe this is to mean that Leonard will be releasing another DVD / Blu-Ray of select live performances. More So...

Re: Three mid-albums re-released as box-set

It's funny that you mention Leonard, himself, believing Recent Songs to be one of his "best" albums. I do believe that it is a very, very strong album. Lyrically, it is the most adventurous of his works, maybe until The Future, and I also adore the album. What strikes me as strange, then, is why Leo...

Re: PRESALES TO BOSTON and AUSTIN

I debated the idea of going to see Leonard on this tour. I know, you're thinking "ARE YOU NUTS?!" Well, I was lucky enough to see him twice on his last world tour. Once in Waterbury, CT and then I flew out to catch the very last show of his tour in Las Vegas, NV. I live in Massachusetts. Yesterday I...

Re: How Would You Rate Old Ideas?

I loved Old Ideas from the first moment I heard it. I thought that every song was stunning, beautiful, amazing, and I was in awe. It touched me to my core the very first time, and repeated listenings simply intensify this feeling. I remember the very first time that I heard Songs of Leonard Cohen a...

Re: How Would You Rate Old Ideas?

Chris I really aprecciate your post, but I would like to ask your oppinion about Come Healing, the only track you havent commented. Ah, I did forget to comment on "Come Healing"...Well, I think it is one of the stronger songs, lyrically, on Old Ideas. This track has me perplexed as of now. I don't ...

U.S. Television Commercial

So, I'm sitting here watching "CIA Secret Experiments" on NatGeo and what appears on my television? A 30 second commercial (I'm guessing, that's a standard commercial length) advertising Leonard Cohen's latest album, Old Ideas ! I immediately thought "how cool is this?" It isn't very often that I se...

Re: How Would You Rate Old Ideas?

Okay, I've listened to Old Ideas from start to finish about 5 or 6 times and I'm finally ready to comment in this thread. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate Old Ideas a solid 6.5, maybe a 7. It ended up being a better album, in my opinion, than I thought it would be, based on the few songs that Leo...

Austin City Limits 1988 (Entire TV Broadcast)

I have uploaded the entire television broadcast of Leonard Cohen's 1988 Austin City Limits show. You can watch it on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/5DO5pA641EE I decided to keep the show un-edited rather then separate each song. The set list is as follows: 1) First We Take Manhattan 2) Tower of Song ...

Re: The New Yorker streams "Going Home" and prints the lyric

Jerry, you and I must be twins because I just listened to "Banjo" for the first time and after listening to it a second time I wrote, in the official "Banjo" thread, that I liked the song but I thought it lacked meat , just like you thought. It's funny that you and I both think "Darkness" is a great...

Re: Listen to "Banjo"

I like this song, but as far as comparing it, to what I consider Leonard Cohen-quality, again, it doesn't measure up. Yes, we will listen to these tracks over and over, in the beginning, and then we'll go back to listening to Songs of Leonard Cohen, Songs from a Room, Love & Hate, Recent, etc... Com...

Re: The New Yorker streams "Going Home" and prints the lyric

Okay...I know I'm going to take a lot of flack for saying this, but here goes... So far, I have been a bit unimpressed with "Old Ideas". I absolutely love, love, love the Darkness. I think, lyrically, it is right up there with ANY song Leonard has written. I've been listening to Show Me The Place at...

Re: The WORD mag. - Old Ideas Review + Cover Feature

If Cohen were to release another studio album after Old Ideas, do you really want it to contain the songs we've all been listening to on YouTube for over a year? I really like Feels So Good, but I'd rather entirely new material. I'm not a big fan of Born in Chains. To be honest, I was a tad disappoi...
