Re: Tour 2016 (just a rumor)

I'll probably be the only one to say this, but I honestly hope Leonard does NOT tour again. The man is going to be 81 years old this September. We all know that he originally went back out on the road in 2008 out of necessity. If that rotten manager hadn't stolen his life savings we probably never w...

Never Gave Nobody Trouble

A very simple blues tune. I would love to hear what people think of this track.

Re: Live in Dublin Sound

I've read through all the replies in this thread and I'm a little shocked to see some people acting like those who aren't thrilled with this mix are in some way denigrating Leonard Cohen somehow. HE didn't record the material and HE wasn't responsible for the engineering and mixing of the audio. Per...

Re: Live in Dublin reviews

A nice write up! Although, I get the impression the author is implying that "Bird on a Wire" is the oldest material featured on this CD/DVD collection. Perhaps Mr. Horowitz forgot about Leonard's first album... ;-)

Re: Did I Ever Love You - "major misstep"?!

Did I Ever Love You wasn't my favorite song on my very first run through of this album, but the song has grown on me immensely since that first listen. This is my theory on the song: The song tells the story of two people who were involved in a relationship, lovers who are together no more. Perhaps ...

Re: Popular Problems - First Impressions

The only thing that keeps me scratching my head is the absence of Sharon Robinson on this album. She has been a major part of every new Leonard Cohen album since 1988's I'm Your Man. Actually, I was quite shocked that Leonard didn't have any of the musicians from Old Ideas (basically his entire back...

Re: Popular Problems - First Impressions

I didn't know that you could stream the entire album before release. That's crazy. I'm sure that has to affect sales negatively. Although, I guess in today's age, with torrenting, artists are well aware that their works are going to "get out there" one way or another. I hope the sales are strong for...

Leonard Cohen discusses Hallelujah and his new album at Lond

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/sep/16/leonard-cohen-discusses-hallelujah-new-album-popular-problems You can read the full article at the link above. What got me really excited was the ending which reads: He added that he was already partway through a follow-up to Popular Problems, which he j...

Re: Great interview in Rolling Stone

So, from what Leonard says it appears there will be ANOTHER studio album to look forward to? We had another song on the album, which was called "Happens to the Heart," which will be on the next album. It's a very good lyric, a very good tune, but we didn't nail it. So we didn't put each other on abo...

Re: Popular Problems - First Impressions

Really enjoying the new album too. Old Ideas feels like more of a "big statement" but this one for me is a smoother and more enjoyable ride. Exactly. Old Ideas really could be a swan song type of album and it would have been a VERY good one. It has that swan song type of feel to it. Like you said, ...

Re: Popular Problems - First Impressions

I'm stunned at the vocals on Popular Problems. This album IS NOT Old Ideas part 2 despite the fact that both album covers have some things in common. I was very pleasantly surprised as well. I don't know why, probably because the albums were released so close to each other... Well, close for Leonar...

Popular Problems - First Impressions

I just finished listening to Popular Problems for the very first time. I don't want to really spoil anything for anyone. I know the complete lyrics are available and posted in this forum. So some of you may already be familiar with the subject matter of some of these songs. Anyway, I just wanted to ...

Re: "Popular Problems" - the next LC album (late September 2

I wonder why such great songs like "priests" and "god is alive magic is afood" are not recorded, hope he did it sometime in the past or that he would do it some time in the futer. "God is Alive Magic is Afoot" is a great song?? I believe it is a poem and has always remained so. Frankly, I don't bel...

Re: "Popular Problems" - the next LC album (late September 2

I wish the new CD were a little longer as well. I mean, he spent so much time crafting a song like "Feels So Good" while on the road, why not put together a studio version? I'd have to imagine that a song they've worked on for years would be a lot quicker to record in a studio compared to something ...
