Re: why I will not criticise the poetry of others

Manna, just the first line was meant for you. The rest was general. Sorry about that, I forget formatting on a PHP bulletin board is a little off sometimes. What I'm trying to say is writing for news is very different from writing poetry. You're expected to keep things short and to the point, with s...

Re: "Partisan" translation

Hi News Gal - is that Cherokee script in your signature? It looks just beautiful, so unique (to my eyes in any case). My brother-in-law is Ojibwe, so I have heard some Objibwe, but not a great amount. One of the most interesting English accents I've heard is Inuit - very distinctive and completely ...

Re: why I will not criticise the poetry of others

Manna, here in Connecticut you DO have to have certification and training to be a counselor. That doesn't ring true here at all. I'm a news anchor and reporter, a journalist--while writing's part of that, I'm not a "writer" in the sense the word's used here. I'm also used to making myself understood...

Re: "Partisan" translation

Hey there Sochijava! I'm finding that as I work more in radio, with the headphones on so much, I'm having a harder time telling some sounds apart. It's good to have some better ears around here LOL. I agree, English is not a very pretty language to listen to. My language, Cherokee, isn't really too ...

Re: why I will not criticise the poetry of others

I actually ignored Marisha and her horrid attitude. But I won't post because it seems every week there's someone getting torn to pieces by someone else. I for one am also tired of being treated as though I'm a moron. It's better to get "constructive criticism" from real live people anyway. The Net i...

Re: why I will not criticise the poetry of others

Hi Newsgal, personally I wouldn't let racist or sexist poems "just be" as you advise, but if you want to walk on the other side then that's your choice. Hi Vern, who said "if you believe that you have valid advice to offer, then use PM to communicate with them"- I don't think there is a Charter or ...

Re: why I will not criticise the poetry of others

I don't ask for help or criticism-- I also hate it when people who aren't willing to understand me think I'm arrogant because I'm simply DIFFERENT. This is so frustrating. Marisha, I'm having a hard time saying what I mean because I'm so agitated by your misunderstanding. I'll do the best I can: I ...
