I often have peculiar ideas: It would be interesting to see a map of the world with each member of this forum plotted on it as a dot :D . I like seeing things visually represented.

Meet-up South Wales 21st Sept 2005

Wednesday 21st September 2005, Bridgend, South Wales at The Railway, 7pm Excuse me for barging in here and trying to arrange a meetup when you don't know me, but Wendy, Rob and John the Shorts have all indicated they should be able to make this date so I guess we're on! Is there anyone else within t...

I agree Jo. Leonard may, or may not, have got into this trouble partly as a result of his own foibles. But, either way , if you care about someone, do you not feel compassionate anyway ? Throwing the first stone and all that. It is unfortunate to read so much gossipy speculation on here, his "fans'"...

Fljotsdale :D , I have a bone to pick with you! I was listening to Field Commander Cohen yesterday, and when Memories was playing I recalled your amusement at the 'naked body' lines...and it wrecked my appreciation of the song! For some reason I was reminded of Chris De Burgh's Patricia the Stripper...

I suppose Tina Turner is 'really' a soul singer, but to me, having seen her live a couple of times, she sure knows how to rock. As you say, Witty Owl, there's so much power in her voice, and she had so much energy and stamina. I reccomend a live album to anyone.

Well, yes, of course Teratogen, but there's no need to SHOUT

LB, yes I know the first function of language is communication. I was thinking about the difference in output of men and women you were referring to in your first post. What did someone say about sarcasm and wit?

See you,

Love's Bastard, Some women can 'rock out': Hynde, Lennox, Pat Benatar, Tina Turner (showing my age with these examples) spring to mind, but women tend not to get involved in the heavier stuff it's true. I think it's to do with the aggressive nature of heavier stuff not being particularly attractive ...

Having reminded myself how much the three words “gentle this soul” convey over on another thread, I am was thinking about the power of just one line, or part of a line: We are so lightly here Take this longing Show me slowly the wild regret I know from your eyes the dove is never free --------------...

ooops, I have been wondering about Welsh meet-ups in another thread somewhere and now I find this. This forum is truly labyrinthine. Hope you enjoyed your birthday, John. Bridgend is "somewhere between Swansea and Cardiff". 21st September is a good day. Just a thought.

"Gentle this soul" are very beautiful words of Leonard's, Fljotsdale, and here, under such a title, is a good place to read them.

Hi friends. I have been dipping in here for a few months and thought I would get around to posting. My indoctrination was in my student years in the early 80’s when I first heard SoLaH. Joan of Arc was my favourite then. Still is, sometimes. What hooked me was Leonard’s deep, deliberate, resonant vo...

Weather Forecast by Bob Seger: I awoke last night to the sound of thunder How far off I sat and wondered Started humming a song from 1962 Ain't it funny how the night moves When you just don't seem to have as much to lose Strange how the night moves With autumn closing in Weather forecast by Jethro ...

Rob I love your suggestion that Delilah would be a no-no, followed by your second thoughts that perhaps it would be an idea after all. For those outside Wales: Tom Jones’ ‘Delilah’ spontaneously and joyously erupts amongst groups of drinkers as the night wears on in pubs across the land. I think Leo...
