Re: The Night Comes On

Mat: Yes it is a haunting song. Look forward to reading the explanation that is lurking below your consciousness. This song touches me deeply. ‘The Night comes on’: The night has such a pull, the night is seductive, the night tempts. The night to my mind is the idea of the peace and comfort of death...

Holydove/Rachel Your question reminds met that in another thread you talked about ‘kindness’. Quoting you: ”To your question about the Buddhist view of kindness/compassion - it has to do with the "selflessness" you mentioned. True compassion would involve really dissolving one's sense of "I", or "me...

Re: Music You're Listening To

Absolutely loved both of last two links. Great to have the translations of poems. Diane. Sorry that you could not open link to Dharana. It still works with me. Will send mp3. Re: Who By Fire

Hi Holydove, Thank you for bringing this up again. Thank you for your explanation why you think it is 'ascent'. I also like the way you brought both ascent and assent together. Your explanation, like many of your other explanations, is one that is very new to me and enlightning. I also thought it wa...

Re: Remembering Shusha

It must have been wonderful to hear her live.
I found all the albums you named in the record library exept 'From East to West'. On which albums are 'Dance me to the end of Love 'Go no More A Roving'? I found another album 'Here I Love You'.

Re: Remembering Shusha

I can't remember the details of her meeting with Leonard, but I suspect that Leonard may have asked to meet her, or that they were connected by a mutual acquaintance. Do you know if Leonard and Shusha met just the once or more often? Do you think she may have introduced or spoke to him about Persia...

Re: Remembering Shusha

Thank you for posting this. I never heard of her either. But I love her singing Bette Midlers moving song. It is funny how things sometimes come together; Sufi music being discussed in the thread You are Right Sahara. I would be interested to know what you think makes Shusha's interpretations of Leo...

Re: You Are Right, Sahara

Doron I don't really know this Bejart Bolero ballet to which you refer, so ingnorance is bliss here, to me. Maybe if I knew this original, I would see the flaws in the interpretation in the video Mat posted, but I did thoroughly enjoy the drama of the Ravel part. Anyway, peasants have always danced...

This is an inspiring thread. Mat, Thank you for the great dance videos. Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Las Vegas, Nevada, December 10 & 11, 2010

Tineke, I hear you!! And those are the most eloquent two words, IMHO!! I have never been able to find the words to describe a Leonard Cohen concert (though I do admire those who can)!! I feel like a mute person who has just tasted ice cream (or substitute your own favorite food here) for the first ...

What a fascinating topic,Ive just been reading through the posts and all of them stand out. Two Id like to add. Ah they'll never, they'll never, ever reach the moon, at least not the one that we're after, it's floating broken on the open sea, look out there my friends, and it carries no survivors. Th...
