Re: wiesbaden meet-up

Maybe I should have added that I personally like the Ratskeller aka Andechser at the Marktplatz (open till midnight), which is a restaurant with Bavarian food mainly. And as pubs go, I like Beck's am Bäckerbrunnen, which is usually open past midnight, offers small meals and drinks but is not too spa...

Re: wiesbaden meet-up

But after 11 pm? The concert starts at half past six, so I guess it will be over at around ten. Many theatre goers hit Wiesbaden's restaurants around that time, e.g. you can get hot meals till eleven at Le Petit Tartin opposite the Kurhaus and they open till twelve. So, Wiesbaden does not go to sle...

Re: wiesbaden meet-up

as we have no forum members in wiesbaden Says who? ;-) I know of two... and am sure there are more lurking secretly. It's the capital of Hesse after all. Anyway, there are many restaurants, bars and pubs in the small but beautiful Old Town of Wiesbaden, which is in walking distance to the Kurhaus. ...

Thank you, dick, for clearing that up. Somehow I had thought it was at the Chelsea for good. So, I was quite lucky to have seen it there still. :D

Re: Chelsea Hotel

I visited New York this summer, went to see the Chelsea and sat in the lobby for a few minutes as well. The place breathes history, doesn't it? I even walked there a second time to take a photo of myself. So I can understand you, astranger... ;-) However, that second time they had taken down Leonard...

Re: Tony Palmer presents "Bird on a wire"

Yeah, my computer will play it, but I don't like watching films at my desk. And my DVD player usually plays NTSC videos. Anyway, I just wanted to clear things up for those who might worry about the NTSC. But true, not all PAL players play NTSC, so I might have mislead people... Thanks for being more...

Re: Tony Palmer presents "Bird on a wire"

To answer my own question from above: Those of us with PAL DVD players rejoyce! The backside of the DVD case can be clearly seen in one of the shots at amazon and there it says: "all regions" . It's NTSC but not region coded, so those with crappy DVD players like mine should be able to view it as we...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Berlin, Germany, August 18, 2010

Exactly my thoughts - as usual - Pearlvoice. :D I listen to Leonard's music day and night anyway, and as long as that doesn't get boring, I do not think a live concert can. Of course, you have more songs to choose from with a CD collection but Leonard is so much better live than on the Cds that the ...

Re: Tony Palmer presents "Bird on a wire"

You might keep an eye out for something like this if all else fails. Thank you, Mary B. I was thinking about that too. Best would be a DVD player that plays everything, including videos and Blu-ray discs :) But what a waste just because of unnecessary codes and the like. Well, if all else fails, so...

Re: Lyrics of „Born in Chains“, as far as I can make them out

More worryingly its starting to sound a little like an out-take from a Lloyd-Webber production. Anyone else feel this? Aaah, thank you so much. I was wrecking my brain trying to find out where I had heard that kind of tune before. Well, I very much prefer The Darkness and Feels So Good really...

Re: Lyrics of „Born in Chains“, as far as I can make them out

Hmmm, wasn't it a reference to oral sex in The Darkness as well? Just as in Light As The Breeze? I mean " ruby cup" *cough* Which wouldn't be a new idea of course... But it doesn't seem to be related to anything but religion in Born In Chains. Anyway, I still understand "hampered cup" and it ...

Re: You May Be A Leonard Cohen Fan If …

I wonder, does Leonard still smoke? Hi Undertow! In several interviews it is said that Leonard quit smoking because he had "lost his taste for it." And that is what he often is quoted to have said. I do not remember the exact occasion where he gave another version - someone else maybe will: He coul...

Re: Tony Palmer presents "Bird on a wire"

Wow, I only just saw the US release will be 31st August already. Hurray. :D
Does anyone know if it will be released in the PAL format too? I can't watch NTSC region coded DVDs on my player
