Re: Tony Palmer presents "Bird on a wire"

Too bad political correctness has streamlined corporate media and the pictures shown there that much that everything than embedded journalism seems to be too much for the general public. I am not sure if you understood me correctly. In general, I agree that pictures of war should not be kept from t...

Re: Tony Palmer presents "Bird on a wire"

Finally watched this! :D (No problems with the DVD player whatsoever, by the way.) And it surely met my expectations. What an unusually intimate portrait - we will probably never again get a closer look at LC (body and soul  ), assuming that neither Issermann nor Lorca Cohen has secretly gather...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Wiesbaden, Germany, Sept. 3, 2010

Mary - I wonder what he saw that made him stop in mid-sentence like that ... ??? Hmmm, probably just because he had started the sentence wrong and realized he had mixed up stanzas ;-) What was really cool was that he didn't struggle to find the right words again but instead was so very relaxed, lis...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Wiesbaden, Germany, Sept. 3, 2010

Are you sure? - I heared: “Is that supposed to make me feel bad?” We are indeed not sure, Pearlvoice and I. It really sounded like "bad" but then "better" seemed to make more sense. *shrugs* In any case it was cool and fun 8) Is Hattie sitting on a chair? For the whole concert? No, not for the whol...

Re: Tony Palmer presents "Bird on a wire"

Amazon.co.uk shipped my DVD today. I was looking forward to this and as many am now confused. Should I have a bad conscience? I guess/hope not. There was a lot of time to prevent the release of this DVD. By now many copies have been sold and distributed, there have been official screenings, fans have...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Wiesbaden, Germany, Sept. 3, 2010

Link to one of the local newspapers and a video of people being interviewed outside the venue. http://www.wiesbadener-kurier.de/region/kultur/musik/9347205.htm As often in Wiesbaden many people picknicked outside the venue on the beautiful Wilhelmstraße and listened to the music. One lady says it is...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Wiesbaden, Germany, Sept. 3, 2010

I am psychologically not able to say much yet... For me, the concert was in one league with Lörrach with a very happy Leonard Cohen, joking with the band and joyfully singing away in the highest notes he could muster when he had his microphone down. During Everybody Knows this even made Dino S...

Re: wiesbaden meet-up

In case this is valuable information: in Wiesbaden you will not be able to see the stage during soundcheck either because of the way the venue is built. But you will possibly hear it, even from a distance... When Elton John was there, half the city got a free concert that way...

Re: Lady Midnight.

The woman he sought in the song represents the creative spirit (or muse). That's it! Finally the song makes sense to me. I was wrecking my brain for this when actually it should have been so obvious  As for me, I was pondering a hidden death wish in the meeting with lady midnight but in that ...

Lady Midnight

Can someone please help me understand - apart from the obvious (?), literal meaning: Who or what is lady midnight? What is it that the poet really expects from her? How/why does he win his lady in the end? I always feel that I do not really get it  I will be interested in your interpretations....
